anybody know when he's back from suspension?

we could really do with him back playing. we've really struggled having to play 4-2-2 all season

The day K-Mac returns, is the day we sign some attacking players worthy of cleaning his boots. Djokovic is the best tennis player in the world, but I reckon him and I wouldn't get very far as a doubles team! I think the answer lies in the transformation of: Williamson, Quinn, Evans, Lowton to Porter, Kitson, Flynn and Murphy explains a lot in his sudden dip in form!

A stand out player, in all levels of football, stands out. Yes, the other players may not do much with the ball when they get it but, the stand out player stands out. McDonald's lack of form is down to him and / or his manager not being able to get the best out of him - oh and his 'win the ball' partner not being that good at his job either.

KMac hasn't scored a single goal this season...

People talk about Doyle needing to be dropped for Robson, personally I'd like to shore up the centre mid for a few games to tighten up the middle of the park. It might give KMac a kick up the arse.

As much as I like McDonald I think you might be right !

McDonald had Quinn and Williamson last season who could move inside and find space or stay wide which allowed him to be flexible with his passing. He unfortunately is like a crab now moving left to right and back again with wingers who are more likely to come back to get the ball rather than trying to make a run past the full back. Although he looks a bit lazy at times he really has no option in his passing.

Sometimes he is also being lazy and I think Doyle allows him to be. He certainly never seems to get on his back however he is good at having a pop elsewhere. I am not sure Robson is the answer because he certainly won't have the legs.

I think it's more down to tactics and movement why McDonald is not the same player and when he starts enjoying himself again you will see his best.

I like him too, but he can't just keep getting his shirt when others are getting dropped.

I also think some people think that dropping a player is the end of them, but it's not. It's a chance for someone to challenge them and a chance for them to wake up.

If we drop him we may see if that is true or not

I think there's something to be said for a complete revamp - perhaps try Whitehouse & Robson as a pairing there.

True Danny likes his first 11.

I'd drop KMac first though as I think he's sometimes too much of a passenger

Most of the time I agree with you Swiss and to be honest I thought dropping K mac would have been a good shout before Fridays game. However the utter crap that surrounds him at the moment is the problem. The first half on Friday was the worst I have ever seen in my entire life, it was like a fucking attack vs defence training exercise with us hoofing it anywhere and everywhere.

Starting porter and Kitson together is suicide, Porter is shit... end off, there is nothing else to it. When Forte came on (who I also think is poor , shows how far we have dropped) jesus we actually had some movement. Forte started dragging defenders and making space for runs from the wingers..... 2 mins into Forte coming on i had seen 2 passes from Kmac, one to put Forte through and one a lovely 25 yard crossfield ball to Flynn. K mac will never work his bollocks off and he was shite for going down trying to get a pen instead of putting his foot through it to score. However his passing ability would be on show if we had more people with the movement Forte had. K mac could also benefit from a player next to him who isn't inept in pretty much every way. Doyle simply put was on par with Higgo for worst player on the pitch on Friday, K mac will never be a box to box midfielder and will never put a decent challenge in or do anything that may require some real effort. He needs an athletic strong box to box ball winning midfielder next to him, of which he doesn’t have.

However his ability to put people through on goal and pick out a man cannot be matched in this division, He needs these options to be available to be able to do it!

Doyle should be the first to be dropped and roll Robson in as captain, Robson looks like the kind of player who has some quality about him but lacking match fitness and some time to adjust to his new team mates. What I saw from him makes me think he could easily replace Doyle and better Doyle's current abilities in most ways if not every.

I'd be tempted to play 5 in midfield the next 2 or 3 games, with Kitson lone striker and swapping him for Ironside when he gets knackered.

i said do that months ago. before we signed murphy so blackman was stuck on the wing permanently. the midfield is non existent, we have nobody to play up front with kitson so as stick porter in we may as well put another midfielder in. any of mcdonald, flynn, whitehouse, even that diego kid should be able to play an attacking midfielder role and get forward to support kitson. hell its only l;eague one, its not like we need paul scholes in there.

Agree KMN I think we need to solidify midfield and one with Forte / Murphy in behind Kitson would not necessarily be a defensive one. It's got to be worth a go ?

theres a million ways we could play it really. main thing is we just need another body in there with a bit more life in them. doyle could probably hold midfield better with another livelier player in midfield too. theres so many options. all must be better than porter. id like to see our midfield swarm forward as a unit for a change. instead of just standing there like statues.

As much as i have a downer on Doyle - give him a chance in a 5 man midfield with MacDonald and Robson, with Murphy / Forte out wide and Whitehouse waiting in the wings for the first one who's knackered. Then give Ironside / Geronimo a run the last 20 mins.

Easy this manager lark isn't it ;)
