Kevin McDonald was a big part of Slavs team at Fulham. I wonder if he’s got similar ideas for Berg?

Berge is one of the only player assets we've got who could be sold for a decent sum, with O'Connell and Egan being the other two. If we sell Berge then it'll give Jokanovic more funds in the transfer kitty. Berge is a good player with a lot of potential, but he was a luxury that we didn't need and rarely made a significant influential impact in matches on a regular basis. I like him but we'll benefit more from selling him than keeping him.

Maybe he will change his mind now he knows who the new manager is. It's not like he showed himself to be the new Patrick Vieira.
A good season in a side that gets up from the championship might be what he needs to make the transition into the premier league.

He might have the idea but the lad didn’t trade champions league football to be playing in the championship.

he’s clearly not going to be here next season. We have to deal with that reality and utilise the transfer fee we receive
One can live in hope. Either that or find a replacement with his transfer fee.

If some pays his release fee he'd make up for a lot of required downsizing on his own. Could have more than one quality player for that money too. Wouldn't be disappointed either way with Berge, so long as we don't sell him on the cheap.

No one will buy joc Egan will take big money to present away

I’m looking forward to players we sign who name I can’t pronounce

ive done a little sex wee
I wouldn't worry about pronouncing the name,,how is it going to fit on the back of the shirt, going to have to start half way down one sleeve, across the back and down the other sleeve!

Why are people so eager to see the back of Berge? The lad can play and has recently been used in a very negative system which can only be described as dull as fuck, I reckon Berge in an attacking outfit, one which SJ prefers by the way will prosper very much so, as will our team.

50% of what we get for him is probably the biggest transfer budget in the league basically. Not one other player would even command an 8 figure fee anymore despite what we paid for them. If we keep him we probably need a fire sale of our other top end players to swap out 5 or 6 of the others for what Slav wants to do.... Move Berg on and we can hold on to who we want.

I can see what you’re saying. I think he’s going to want to keep our better ball players though because of the football he likes to play, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he keeps Berge and does a mini fire sale as you mention, be interesting to see how he goes about it regardless of who he keeps, I for one can’t wait to find out.

Slav played Norwood and McDonald as 2 DMs in a 4231, I’d like to see that with Norwood and Berge.

I think the thing with Berge is that the release clause on him is huge. If there were no clause and we were talking about just getting back what we paid for him or in that ballaprk, then I'd be up for keeping him. £35m for him on the other hand is a lot of pennies, especially when people talk about the need for relegated clubs to make up around £40m in reduced revenue. It would even be a tougher decision if Berge had been a star and was a big part of the team. Really we haven't seen that much of him, and what we have seen has been mixed, so I think what Jokanovic could do with £35m in the bank is probably greater than what we have in Berge. If we end up keeping him then great, if he's worth even half the asking price he's too good for the Championship. I think that along with the expectation that he will leave is making a lot of people indifferent to it. Which is nice. Usually when a player is rumoured to be about to be sold it's a disaster for us.

I rate Berge but I would sell him if we could get over 20m for our new midfield. Every team that gets relegated loses at least one star player 🙄

I don't think it's a case of wanting to get rid of him, it's more realism he's our most saleable asset and it took enough persuasion to get him to play in PL. I just do not see him playing in the Championship he'll go where to? that I'm not sure.

Berge is like having a real banging bird, that you met online, and she lives in Brazil. Great to have but pretty pointless if you're not getting his fanny.
Sorry HER fanny.
