He was absolutely superb today.

I seriously can't understand how we can afford him, i can't understand why he is not at least a Division higher, or even in the Premiership, and i'd love to know what convinced him to stay.

If we can keep him fit, and on form all season, then i don't see any reason why we can't go up this year, if we build the team around him.

Probably the best ball playing midfielder i've seen for us, not that there is a great choice to choose from.

I think he's got an underlying injury problem which flag on medicals.
In short he's a risk and no one other than us would offer him 2 year deal.

Risk worth taking for us, not so much for teams in a higher division.

Seems to make a lot of sense to me, still someone else's loss is our gain, and apparantly he likes a drink as well.

He's obviously had injuries and comes with some baggage it seems. Just chuffed to bits that he plays for us. I'd like to think that he knows he's of an age when he needs some stability and appreciates a manager who clearly rates him..I dunno?..he's an absolute pleasure to watch

Looking forward to seeing Dave Kitson in front of him. I think that the young lads up front might take a bit of time to fully tune into Kev's wavelength and I think Kitson will drop straight on and help them learn.

He's abit old school, likes a drink and food, doesn't like doing training, and has underlying injury risk which means he needs to be treated as a special case, which no one else is prepared to do at the moment. Luckily for us he is sheer quality and the best signing we made this summer (him resigning with a new contract)

I have no knowledge of his issues other than his fall-out at Burnley and a few hammy tweaks. But just by watching him play it's obvious that the only thing holding him back is himself. The player he reminds me most of is Michael Ballack. He has the same stature and imperious air to his play. If he had the same Teutonic attitude he'd be a millionaire too..

Anyway, he's the best midfield orchestrator I've seen since Cowans' short spell here. Glynn Hodges could be similar but we never had him in a passing team. Whilst McCall was equally influential but he was more a facilitator for those around him.

I pray he keeps fit and keeps happy because he makes my £400 seem well spent.

MacDonald = Proper footballer :)

So glad he re-signed

Links the play exceptionally well and increases our possession percentage. Something we haven't had for quite sometime.

But we need one/two midfielder(s) in as soon as possible, as to me we now look light across the middle with Quinn and Monty both departing and the risk of losing Macca through injury

Apparantly, it's Wilsons top priority now (phew!)

I echo all the above. It's a complete mystery how we managed to get him resigned (apparantly on sensible wages) when he was out of contract. The team should be built around him.

A big pair of Ballacks?

He just gets better!

Is it just me or does anyone else think of a certain Mat Le Tissier when KMac is on the ball.... a certain elegant lazyness about him?

yeah that is a good spot but i don't think it is lazyness.. he just seems to be on different quantum time to everyone else (he seems to have ages).. it is down to his first touch
i'm quite hopeful of the injury situation.. bigger guys (like Steven Gerrard for example) can have hamstring problems in their early career.. hopefully he will grow out of it. .but i do wince every time he goes into a tackle..
how long before the 'super ..super kev.. super.. super kev.. super.. super kev..super kev mac donald' chant starts??

More of a case he finds his way into some space to give himself time on the ball.

I was not saying he was lazy... just that he plays with such a slow easy touch, at first sight his workrate doesn't seem impressive but then you realise it's all about the deft touches and little turns away from the oposition and into space.... can anyone get the ball off him?... velcro boots or what!...... the guy is sheer class.... best I have seen in a blades shirt for many years.

Actually I noticed a few of our lads with good control on Saturday. It makes a refreshing change to see proper footballers not wanting to lump it. Flynn controlled a few high balls and long passes to him as did McAllister.

Say it quietly but even Hill took down a throat ball by the corner flag before hoisting a cross over. Things Jordan Stewart dreams of....

Its positioning as well. he isn`t busting a gut all the time because he's already where he needs to be...

I noticed this, we hit a few crossfield passes and the recipients were able to take it down nicely.

Thought Ian Brown was a manc?

If we are talking "motion" then what MacDonald does is certainly not random
Micheal Brown.. remember him?? scored a lot of goals from midfield?? similar position?? yeah?? you remember??
