Kenny and Monty bye ;-(

If (big if I know) the lad on bladesmad who says Kenny has been offered £3.5m over 4 years by QPR is right, then he's got to go. He might owe us something but he doesn't owe us £3m.

As I posted recently, I've also heard from a good source that Monty's off to Leeds.

We need to find some new heart and soul and quickly. A few permanent signings, preferably young, hungry and delighted to be at the Lane, would be a good start. The turnover of players since Warnock left has been incredible and very unhealthy. I want us to start bringing in people who stay for decent spells and build some sort of a bond with the fans.

Everything I heard (second hand) from a couple of players last season was that the spirit was excellent amongst the lads, how long is that going to continue with long serving players disappearing.

Fingers crossed we offer Morgan whatever he wants...

Kevin Blackwells done that all by himself

I don't accept that this is totally Blackwell's fault. I can't imagine that he wants to lose Monty and Paddy. Don't get me wrong, he's a long, long way from being perfect but in smany ways, he's a victim (he'll love that!) of the Robinson/Robson regime.

heh.. multiple reply..
>We could get rid of all the boo boys favourites in one swoop
please make it so.. there's a reason that they get booed you know.. (hint: they're all crap)

So that's an acceptable reason to boo them then? Of course it isn't. If they're shit (and the players in question aren't) then how can you boo them for it? As long as they're doing their best and as long as the manager's picking the team any booing is pathetic.

And lack of interest in Monty - are you joking? He's one of the most in demand players in the Championship.

Have to see whether all these come off, but the words "rats" and "sinking ship" spring to mind. Was hoping for a positive early start to our transfer dealings but this is not positive to my mind.

I agree. I can almost hear Blackwell speaking in September 2010 about how we're having to make do, and that these players have to get used to playing for a big club etc.

I don't know why we don't just bite the bullet and go either one of two ways.

Option 1) Back Blackie and give him substantial funds to make us strong in the transfer market in terms of being able to keep Monty, Paddy, Naysmith & Hendo, four players who eptimise Blackwell's approach to football teams, and let him buy players who we KNOW will be able to come in and do a very good job at this level, not gambles on the likes of Lloyd Sam, Stephen Hunt and those other two who we were linked with in the Star. If we were to buy those four, we may be lucky if one is a success. The soul will be ripped out of SUFC if we're without Monty & Paddy, If I were Morgan and Warnock came knocking this summer and with those two going it would take a very strong individual who has undoubted loyalty to not consider it.

Option 2) Accept that we can't push our budget any more but at the same time accept that Blackwell isn't the manager who can cobble together a team from lesser clubs and turn them into a very strong side. If you look at the majority of KB's signings at United & Leeds they were already established good Championship players, I'm talking players like Hulse, Cresswell (x2), King, Derry, Greegan, Deane, Sullivan, Douglas, Blake, Halford, Henderson etc. It is clear that the days of us signing these players at their best are over.

I went to the fans forum last month and I got the impression that if we start off poorly next season then KB will be a goner, but if we're waiting around till October, November to get a new man in then we're in effect playing catch up (again).

Just go one of two ways, don't muddle on till the inevitable happens.

Evening Blades, Leeds fan here.

Always rated Monty as being very good at what he does, ie breaking attacks up and stopping other teams playing. Would be very happy if he signed for us, would give Kilkenny much more room to play through the middle, although Doyle did a decent job last season, i think the next step up would be a struggle for him.

Would be a great signing as i always thought he'd see his playing days out at the lane.

If kenny goes then he SHOULD BE FUKIN ASHAMED with himself. He owes this club big time for how they have stood by him.I cant c it happening anyway.

Same old Blades eh? If these deals go through cant wait to hear the excuses from the board. There will be more spin than a day at the funfair.

Really looking forward to watching Jordon Stewart and Ryan France next season maybe we could even get some has been loan signing in too. Still the ground is looking lovely and the hotel seems to be doing good business. Seriously, is it possible to get refunds on season tickets for next season??

Your figures are wrong, the Kenny deal is 84% and the Monty deal is only 48%.

I wish Montgomery was 100%. Just shows how bad our season was that most people are raving about him. Can't pass, can't shoot, can't head, no pace.

Yes he runs about on the pitch but I can do that, he often runs about trying to rectify the appaling pass he has just played. He can trap the ball further than I can kick it.

Get rid.

Al this crap about wages, cant blame him, if he goes he owes us etc....... its all about SHEFFIELD UNITED AND MC CABE CASHING IN.... hasnt that sunk in by now????

If we didn't have Blackwell at the helm I wouldn't be too bothered about losing either player. They are both decent and very hard workers, but (particualrly Monty) they are players that give 100% but are limited. If we had a decent new manager with the promise of playing some more attcking, exciting football then I said ok, thanks and good luck. However, we are not. We have Blackwell in charge and these players epitamise his style of play. Blackwell letting players go who sum up his simple not very good, but work very hard style seems a bit silly.

Kenny has a 750k buy out clause built into his contract ,warnock is obviously aware of this and has applied it.

People who care about SUFC and don't see selling any player worth any money as a good thing?

But United haven't done anything yet, it's all rumour and conjectuer (sp)
When and if they do sell or let go either Kenny or Monty, then moan about it. But they haven't so I don't see the point in all the accusations being thrown at United at the moment

Based on track record, which way would think it's likely to go Sensi?

Monty won't be sold, he is out of contract so it's entirely upto him.

It also seems that Paddy has a release clause (insisted upon when he signed the new deal) that Mr Warnock has become aware of.
So again its entirely upto the player if he leaves or not.

I'd like to wait and see and if we do sell Kenny and let Monty leave then I will react (more than likely with much displeasure) then.
Berrating the club for something they haven't actually done or is rumoured is not something I want to do.

Now that would be extraordinary.

A player gets a drugs bust, ponces a seasons wages of us (all bar two games) and has the brass neck to insist on a release clause in his new contract.
I would sooner have activated the release clause that his gross misconduct would have triggered and sacked him without a penny.

Clicks thanks button.;)

Paddy would of been out of contract last summer and we offered him a new deal on vastly reduced wages. You can kick of see why he'd ask for it.
Don't agree with it, but still you can see how it fits.

And especially after his endearing comments said publically, giving his heartfelt thanks to the club for supporting him through his most difficult of times! If Paddy walks, he will have re-wrote the book on: "Loyality........how to ignore it!"

Might get in bother for this but wtf , I think more transparency is needed at Utd. As I understand it ,the 750k clause makes it obligatory for the club and player to be made aware of any offer. Warnock has made the offer and club has informed Paddy who by no means wants to go at the moment however he is duty bound by the contract to meet up with prospective buyers and Warnock wants to meet him next Friday in London.

Simple sitters the clause can be written out of his contract if he wants and he doesn't have to meet Warnock he can turn it down for family reasons or anything else he can think up.

What Bob said. If Paddy doesn't like the clause he can easily get his contract re-negotiated. If he asks for exactly the same terms, with the same money, same length of service, but just taking out any "wriggle out" clauses then Trev and the Kevs are highly unlikely to say no, wouldn't you think?

I know its a bit leftfield but getting panties in a wad over a Sitwell rumour (100% sure its a rumour) just seems a bit premature.

Brownies coming back next week 99% fact. :)
