He wasn’t great but seen far worse over the years. However one thing he got absolutely spot on was refusing to stop the game when their player went down on the edge of our box just before the second goal. Sitting in the Westfield, I was able to keep an eye on him as we went on the attack which led to Didzy’s goal, and despite being in massive pain he still managed to watch from his prone position as the goal went in, then he slowly turned around and resumed his ‘injured’ pose. You could sense him thinking oh shit, maybe I should have just got up and helped us defend, but of course he had to go through the motions of pretending to recover with the help of the physio.
Pretty sure the Stoke manager wasn’t too impressed when he managed to hobble back to halfway, and then made his miraclulous recovery as he stepped back onto the playing area. A shitthousing failure of the highest order.
The ref did actually come over to check on him after the celebrations, hopefully he said something along the lines of ‘serves you right you cheating twat, do you think I was born yesterday’.
