Apologies if this has been posted but I havent seen a mention of this guys death yesterday (the minutes applause last night was for him).

Walthamstow Snr remembers him playing against us for Rotherham in a County Cup match in the late 50's and was impressed and quite pleased when we signed him in 1960. Sadly, his judgement of Kettlebrough whilst at the Lane was "crap". He is on the Match of the Day video in the game against Arsenal giving the ball away. He went to Newcastle from us in 1965.

Anyone else remember him?

Quite a coincidence that he died on the day that two of his former clubs were playing each other (especially as it was the only game of the day) I thought!

I don't remember him by nearly 30 years, but he must have been ok if he was in Ramsey's shadow squad!

I remember him playing for the Blades, but he doesn't stand out particularly in my memory.

After he retired from playing he was a sports master for a time at Birkdale School (in the '80s at least).

He was also the milkman around Whiston for a time!
He was a good cricketer playing as a wicketkeeper/batsman for Whiston in the Yorkshire Council during the late seventies / early eighties
Top bloke!

Keith's daughter was three years below me at Maud Maxfield. I remember him wearing a plaster pot on his leg at one school sports day(I think he was playing for Matlock at the time) and talking to my dad. My dad rated him as a good player. He was selected in England's World Cup squad of 40 players in 1966 (he was a Newcastle player at the time). I have seen a photo of him training with the England squad at Roehampton

The first thing the guy next to me did as GS started to read about him, was point his name out on the girl in front's shirt :D
