Why?

We bought him, didn’t play to his strengths, scapegoated him for a play off final defeat and then sold him due a wank manager and set of owners without a clue.

It’s a hardly a time he’s going to look back fondly on and I’d probably think the same in the same circumstances.

Let’s not forget Billy ‘The Blade’ Sharp was of a similar mindset when he played against us having been let go by some pretty backwards Blades managers many moons ago.
He wasn't scapegoated at Wembley. A scapegoat is someone who is wrongly blamed for taking the rap of someone elses mistakes. No one made the errors he did that day.

He was rightly criticised because his two mistakes were something I'd expect from a first or second year pro, not a 32 year old who should be used to the big occasion. The lack of pass to Campbell and the time he took to make up his mind was exceptionally poor for a player of his experience. He doesn't play as well as he did v us every week neither but he was up for it like he was for us v Cardiff.

He probably got more criticism because over the cause of a season he was inconsistent and we expected more, pardon the pun. I largely defended him over the course of a season but looking back he was a disappointment.

You're right to an extent we didn't play to his strengths and I say to an extent because we still had some very good players last season and it's not the lack of goals but more his overall play that was poor. He was also missing for just under half a season last season! Not his fault but it's not going to help the fans report with a player.

I thought that he was playing with an injury (a hernia) for a large part of the season so wasn't properly fit. I was not a fan but he terrorised our defenders the other night and was main reason we lost.

Us failing to deal with Moore’s obvious but easily countered threats doesn’t make him anything more than an average Championship striker. Getting our money back was a fantastic deal.

The problem is that we didn’t take the opportunity to improve on Moore until Bamford signed 40% of the way through the season.

He was solely blamed by many for being the reason lost at Wembley. That wasn’t the case.

It was the main reason, in my opinion. You can't do what he did and expect not to be blamed by fans. I would also think as players you're pretty disappointed to lose how we did because it was a total give away.

He was totally unmarked for his first. For his second his run wasn't tracked. I personally don't think he terrorised us. Thomason and their wing play was their main threat in my opinion.

Moore also headed the ball in for us to score and I've no idea what he was trying to do there. He looks surprised when his flick on results in a goal which I found amusing.

Fair enough, it’s all about opinions.

I’m not defending a fairly poor season for us, but I do think there were mitigating factors in his defence and I’m certainly not offended by his comments that he was happy to get one over on us given how his season went and the circumstances under which he left.

Yeah, definitely about opinions. I personally was slightly miffed by his comments but that's just my take on it. I think given how it ended at Wembley and his overall season he can expect to receive some boos and criticism from fans.

I can imagine in the heat of the moment after the match he would be pumped etc in the interview but I would have liked a little more humility given his performance at Wembley but that's just my view. He's one of my most disliked players to play for us if I'm honest. I defended him a little t during the season but that performance at Wembley just really hacked me off for the reasons I'd said before. We definitely should have gone two up in my opinion when he was through down the left flank.

It was a poor spell for us but at least we got rid and recovered the money, more than can be said for a few terrible signings over recent years.

He gave the ball away. It happens.
Souza turning his back on a side footed shot shouldn't happen.
It was more the two on two situation that annoyed me but yeah, there's giving the ball way and then there's giving the ball away that loses you a £140m match with two minutes to go. I just expected much better from a seasoned pro who I thought was a decent signing when he came. I don't blame Souza at all who was outstanding all season and was covering in defence because Anel was off injured.

not forgetting robinson not even putting a challenge in on mayenda

No where near as bad as the two incidents from Moore. In my opinion. You can defend Moore if you want, fine. But he was poor overall last season and cost us big time at Wembley.
oh im not defending moore booker but robinson not making an attempt to challenge or block mayenda was equally as bad imo

I've just watched it back again actually! 😂 Proving I'm still not over that defeat!

I think Robbo could be tighter to Mayenda before the ball is passed to Mayenda but I'm guessing that Robbo wouldn't want to get too tight because he would know Mayenda could get in behind and easily do Robbo on pace. Once the ball gets to Mayenda I don't think he's got a chance because he'd have to bring Mayenda down to stop Mayenda scoring which would be a pen and a red for Robbo.

we will agree to slightly disagree captain lol and we wouldnt be debating this on here if.var had not been in operation which it definetly shouldnt have been when not used in the championship all season no way would sunderland have come back from 2 down

No problem fella, all about opinions! What I would say is what's irked me somewhat is his interview after the match last week where he had the opportunity to give his perspective on Wembley, i.e he was gutted to lose, it really affected him at the time etc, etc, something. Or if not mention it, maybe just not say yeah, was great scoring and shutting the fans up with a huge smile on his face bearing in mind how it ended at Wembley.

Contrast that with Dan Jebbison when he scored and was interviewed after the match and he was far more humble and said he still had a lot of time for the club.

I know many won't agree with my opinion above and that's fine, but that's my thoughts.

moore and windass are a pair of arsoles and belong in the same team hope the pair of em get the abuse they deserve when they arrive at the lane

Wembley downfall all on us not taking our big chances.
Totally. But I’m with Booker4 in feeling like Keiffer Moore could show some humility following a f*ck-up on such a huge scale. It was not too dissimilar to scoring an own goal. In one of the biggest games in football. An accident of course. But I still personally think he could’ve shown a bit more of a nod to that, in whatever way. My own view though.

And the same mentality/ headloss/ fitness problems that lost us too many points that season.
It wasn't on Moore that we didn’t go up.
