Would you sign a keeper on Loan if given the chance?

I would seriously look at trying to get an experienced PL keeper in on loan in Jan and to hell with the wages and loan fee.

We really need to make every effort and explore every option to give us a chance to stay in this league. And also take some of the pressure off Ramsdale.

Who could be available?

No Kev, with our dodgy back line I don't think it would make much difference. We have spent big on signing our current number one and are falling over back up keepers of dubious ability. The one I really thought would be pushing was Verrips but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Before signing Rammers, I would have liked us to have brought in Foster who to me has vastly improved with age. Another to impress is Bentley.

We do own 4 senior fucking keepers already. Unless we're planning on forming an 'all goalkeeper' 5 a side league, then it seems excessive.

I'm not saying we should form an 'all goalkeeper' 5 a side league, but would it be any less entertaining than the majority of our games this season?

It's the opposite of Warnock, he loved his strikers, CW seems to love goalkeepers.

Keep Ramsdale, we spent a lot on him and if we do go down he'll be a great asset.

Hello, Stegosaurus here,

Yes. Ramsdale is awful. A 10 year old would have saved the third. He lacked decisiveness with the 2nd and the first seemed saveable if he could dive properly instead of just flopping.

It’s not just about, the second goal where his positioning and judgment of the ball is poor or even a shot from distance that’s goes under his body. Those two goals despite the failures before the shots were taken, are prevented by better decision making and reflexes. This is also not the first time this season he has made poor goalkeeping decisions and for the money we spent its hard to imagine their not being a better keeper for the same price elsewhere. He’s young and has potential but we need solid experience IMO, haven’t an idea who which is makes it more complicated.

It’s reminiscent of the George Long situation in a way, but obviously it’s all relative.

Strikes me that he was drafted in as a number one at a level that he wasn’t overly ready for. Yes he will make decent saves but name me a goalkeeper that doesn’t. Technically he has to be so much better than he is to be a number one at this level.

Problem is goalkeeping is such a confidence position at times. If he’s had it knocked out out him this early in his career then he might struggle to get back to playing consistently well at this level.

Remember having a very similar debate regarding potential when discussing Long, the decision to put him in so early I think has had a hugely detrimental effect on his career and I think the same might be happening with Ramsdale.

Difference between him and Long is that we’ve paid 18 million for him, which is absolutely abysmal business

Would you swap ramsdale and 5-10m for brooks

We have to stick with Ramsdale.

As a team we cannot allow Manchester United players 3 one on ones in a game. Yes the third is his mistake but as a team defensively that’s poor

He could have done much better with the other two as well.... first was straight down the middle yet he dived under it and he was poorly positioned for the 2nd...

Another Keeper purchase wouldn't make any sense, surely Verrips is worth a try - he can’t be any worse than Ramsdale, who was very ordinary before his loss of confidence. All in all it’s a mess especially when you consider that we are also paying Foderingham a wage - yet another player Chris signs but doesn’t fancy...

We could do with shifting some keepers on before we get another in.

I would definitely take a keeper on loan...Ramsdale needs to know that he has competition, doesn’t look like any other keeper at the club is good enough. Reluctant to talk about money as the market has seen inflated prices and we’ve still been unable to compete with wages.

To me Foderingham was an odd signing because is he actually better than Moore? I’m not sure on that one and then he signed Ramsdale because he knew him from when he was at the club before I think, I’d honestly give Verrips a chance he’s unknown but to have even scouted him in first place he must have ability

I agree.
Henderson was given cult status mainly because he was not faced with the chances the defence is giving the opposition.
The first he had no chance, the second he was unlucky and whilst the third was his fault it was not as bad as the guy in the other goal !

Personally think he’s at fault for all 3

Don’t want to smash him, but at this level 1, if not 2 of these should have been dealt with

1st one stay in your line and have time to react or close the player down and close the angles
2nd take the ball, man, everything! Seemed to bottle it a bit
3rd stick out your right boot, or jump on it

Has he ever considered a career in dodgeball?

Agreed. Shocking for the 3rd and poor for the 1st 2. I was amazed at the time that he wasn’t questioned over the 1st. His positioning was bizarre and meant any half decent shot would go in. Stand 5 yards further back and it should be a routine save.

We should be looking at someone experienced to try and give some reassurance at the back. Sergio Romero or someone of similar experience would be ideal. And we should go all out to get our man.
