BLADES star Keith Gillespie has had a speeding charge dropped after his girlfriend admitted she was behind the wheel of his car.
The Sheffield United winger was initially accused after his Aston Martin was caught exceeding the speed limit in Hartlepool.
The ex-Newcastle United footballer, who has lived in the North East town for around two years, denied the offence and maintained it was his partner Vikki Morley who was driving.
Hartlepool magistrates have since accepted his argument after police closely studied a picture of the incident.
Morley, of Harrogate, has now been fined £60 and handed three penalty points on her licence.
She was also ordered to pay a £15 surcharge and £25 costs.
Lilian Atkinson, prosecuting, said: "At around 9.38am an Aston Martin was recorded by a camera travelling on Throston Grange Lane at a speed of 36mph in a 30mph speed limit."
Adrian Morris, mitigating, said "The matter came to court because there was an uncertainty over who was driving."
