What are people's thoughts on the comments Kevin had about Neil.

I can't find a link to the interview but would welcome one....

In short he made references to Warnock's comments in the week that 'Crystal Palace fans are the best he's ever seen', and Blackwell's point was that he "thought Warnock was supposed to be a blade" and that he wondered what we would think about his comments.

I personally found them to be a bitter and cringeworthy attempt at shunning pressure on himself, most likely made because he feared fans may sing Warnock's name ahead of his own again. For me I think most snsible blades would have read Warnock's comments without batting an eyelid and taking them with the healthy pinch of salt we have learnt to take all comments he makes. We all know Warnock is bothered about himself above and beyond anyone or anything else but it's embarrasing to see Blackwell feel he has to stoop to taunts about Warnock ahead of the game in place of using his time to discuss where we've been going wrong and what he's going to do about it.

warnock is a bill manager but a nob for saying that about united fans when he is a blade himself.

He very obviously loved his time at Palace though and left in unfortunate circumstances and probably wants to let the fans know that he appreciated their support. And anyway, some of the moaners on here wouldn't stand by this club through an administration the way Palace fans have, so maybe he's right?

I'd still have him back tomorrow!

Edit : Also, he hasn't actually said anything directly derogatory about united fans so calling him a nob for that reason is a bit short sighted IMO.

bring warnock back :). He could make players who wern't very good into good players. A passionate and brilliant manger! Only thing i didn't like about warnock was that away from home he went negative and played 4 - 5 - 1 or 5 - 4 - 1 other then that a good manager. Bring him back i say. :D

The 4-5-1 formation isn't such a bad thing in principle, Man Utd (for instance) play their best football when they play this formation IMO. Unfortuantely it's all in the execution, and we never had anyone near the calibre of Rooney, Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Fletcher et al to make it work.

As far as bringing him back is concerned, shouldn't be too dificult - he'll be sacked following the first defeat :D

Seems like a bit of a non-argument. Warnock never had the backing of all United fans in his time with us - whilst some Palace fans might be bitter about him going, he seemed to be respected by the overwhelming majority at Selhurst Park.

But this is beside the point. Blackwell can't control what questions he's given in an interview, but he can control how he responds to them...

his passion for the club is what we need! He'd alway make player play for ther shirt! And i remeber when we had warnock we used have 10 strikers. Lol.

First off, NW ain't coming back. He's got his perfect pre-retirement job at QPR (£15k a week for 3 1/2 years, whether he's there that long or not). Plus, he's got one last chance at getting a team into the PL - a far better chance than with Palace or (cough, cough) United.

Good on the bloke! It's his reward for being shat on by the authorities down the years, just for being passionate and telling the truth.

It's also fine recompense for doing a good job wherever he's been and he deserves it when he sees tossers like Laws, Brown, Megson etc. - managers not fit to lace his boots - become multi-millionaires in the PL.

Why Blackwell's latest faux-pas? He would make a really good politician (particularly Labour), making a fuck up of his own position and seeking to deflect the blame elsewhere.

So Kevin, let's all play at being politicians.

Mistakes have been made. Lessons have been learned. It's time to draw a line in the sand and move on.

Now piss off.

I really don't understand why everyone seems to be taking any of the press comments so seriously. For every manager and player, the fans at the last club they have just left were 'fantastic' and the ones where they are today are 'the best'. Warnocks comment is nothing more than that. The local press Star and Radio Sheffield would never do anything as controversial as questioning what they were told.

Blackies is an easy and throw-away comment, a 'sound-bite' beloved of the press. It is encouraged to add a bit of spice to the occasion. They know they don't mean it. We know they don't mean it. All managers do it, so why does it deserve such scrutiny. Do we really believe everything thats written by a journalist is correct and in context?

"just for being passionate and telling the truth". Grafikhaus. I can understand the passionate bit, but telling the truth? When did that happen? Isn't Warnock the biggest lying, mind-game playing, wind-up merchant this side of Alex Ferguson..?

Was going to post something similiar, completely agree.

So much of a Blade he'll make his kid support Plymouth, or maybe it's changed to Palace now.

i doubt if any sheffield united manager would think we had great fans ,unless they were deaf

warnock like blackwell like bassett before them will NEVER be accepted by the majority of the fans. that is because as i look around me i realise that the vast majority of our fans are in their forties and were brought up on currie and woodward, edwards and hatton and will NOT in their heart of hearts accept this embarrassing shit that is served up under the guise of football.. regardless of whether we are fourth from the bottom of the premiership or not.. it isn't what we are about. it is crap and frankly embarrassing to the name of a great football club.

We need to move on, not back.

Coppell or O'Driscoll please.

Blackenstein and his Monster OUT!
