The more baffling one, for me, was not addressing the Centre Back situation in January.

Speculating: Spent available funds on the Beard with the idea that TK would play CH?

I think signing Brayford you get more than just the player so it was worth the money, or worth the gamble at least. And TK breaking down was bad luck?

Tel Kennedy wasn't bad luck mate, we knew he was injury prone and couldn't train to the best of his ability, nor could he ever play 2 consecitive games. This was poor management which should have been addressed with CB's and not the best right back in the league for £1.5 million or whatever it was.

James Shield says the exact opposite. He definitely gets to hear inside information. Who is this other bloke?

Meanwhile, some random bloke on Twitter is

........Once again some random bloke on twitter is beating the hapless James ''definately gets to hear the inisde information'' Shield by already naming the 2 Swindon targets.

as he says Fuckin local journos feed off 3rd hand information, it's embarrassing! That goes for Radio Sheff and The Stir!
Hah.

Hah.

Has it occurred to you that local journos are aware of information that they don't put in the public domain for reasons of confidentiality?

You've got to laugh at somebody who posts on Twitter for all to see "I was told in confidence... Blah Blah Blah"

Don't know much about this. From the outside it looks like a basket case. How is he making money? And how is it long term? (Not disputing that he does and it is.)

He's making money via the PL TV deal. He will make even more now it's gone up.

He is not breaking the bank on wages. Newcastle have over 30 million quid in cash reserves.

The stadium is a huge free billboard for Sports Direct.

His sole aim is to stay in the PL. He is not interested in the Cups, as there is no money in them when compared to league position. When they were relegated, there was no big fire sale. The goal was immediate promotion.

He also makes money via player sales. Pardew did not choose who to sign. A group of people led by Graham Carr, the former Northampton manager, make the decisions. They look for players with resale value - they are usually under 26. Demba Ba is a good example of such a signing. So was Cabaye - cheap signing from a French club, turned into a huge profit when he went to PSG.

As I have said before, I'm not sure I'd want this model at the Lane (and it only works in the PL anyway) but it's interesting to a neutral.

So Karl Robinson has worked for 6/7 years to get them promoted, has a chairman with a fairly generous cheque book and wants to come to the team who's fans didn't think he was good enough when Clough took over and have doled out a fair bit of abuse to him over the years, with expectation of promotion in season 1 (for him not us obviously)?! One word.... Why?

Fair enough we are a "big club" with a decent budget but why take a step back and have a season to turn a failing club round when he can stay there and reap what he's sown for the last half decade and keep his reputation intact in the process?

Has to be someone either failing or on their way out of a current club if we are pinching someone as it's career suicide if you're in a settled role.

Forget the 'generous cheque book'. We operate on a shoestring.

His contract is up this summer, might be playing us for more cash (cynical head) or alternately, I believe he's had a rocky relationship with Pete Winkelman over the years and maybe doesn't fancy what's being offered there?

Who could possibly tell...

No he hasn't. He has an excellent relationship with Winkelman.

I'm just curious as to what it is exactly that prevents a manager coming in, having a full pre-season of preparation and then a full season, and then achieving promotion with the resources and support that we have in the 3rd division?
you mean like Steve Cotterill did??

That's all well and good Rob but what does MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman think?

Don't you just love professional Journos.

And just coming back on an earlier post by Stony bloke, Robinson has been frustrated by Winkelman's actions more than once over the last few seasons.

If he is under serious consideration for our job I think he would be very very tempted.

Did I really say that? Yes, Robbo has been frustrated but that's natural. I'm sure lots of managers are frustrated. We'd all like more than we can afford. But Robbo's relationship with Winkelman is first class. They've been through a lot together. The only way I can see him leaving is if Liverpool offer him Rogers' job.

You say that Robinson has an excellent relationship with his chairman, I say that he has, on more than one occasion in recent seasons, been sufficiently moved to make his frustrations public which to me is not a sign of an excellent relationship. I guess the point I'm making is that whilst for some time Robinson felt indebted to Winkelman for giving him his first stab at management at a very young age he seems to have now moved to the point where he and Winkelman get along okay but there is nothing special anymore about their relationship.
Robinson is ambitious and would, I believe, be interested in managing a club with the potential and backing that Sheffield United offers.

I know this is my opinion. Robbo has a contract offer on the table as his deal runs out on the 1 of june. DAVE78 on BM (v v reliable) said that we'd been in contact with them before NC was sacked. Now maybe just maybe Karl hasn't signed the deal as we've spoked to him and we've agreed everything for him to agree from the 1st of june?

I was thinking that earlier when does Robinson's contract expire.

Isn't he on holiday til Monday?

I didn't want him to be honest.
I like him, I like his style, but it took him too long to get MK Dons up(we'd have sacked him years ago)
But now parkinson is in the frame and Adkins is looking less and less likely- Robbo sounds a brilliant plan B. I can't put into words how much I don't want Parkinson!

Keep posting things like this it gets that awful image of Parkinson out of my head.

In many ways he'd be mad to leave for this place but it's job done there and he has legend status so not a bad Time to leave.

If he's been 'sold' the long term aim and guaranteed funds for not just league one but championship too he may be tempted at the project. If he does get us up after 5 years, where others have failed then he will get legend status here too and have a strong reputation in the game.

Robinson is the man who fits the bill . Done it , been there , got the tee shirt . IF we can get him it would be a great coup and a lift in confidence for fans , existing players and recruitment . Anyone else would be second best IMO.

If he is out of contract , make him a offer he cannot refuse . Now that would be game changing investment. Come on board show your intent.

So has Adkins not "got the tee shirt" then?

Now maybe that's why nothing's been said? Maybe when DAVE78 said that we'd been in contact maybe RObbo hasn't signed a new deal bcos we''ve offered double what he's on at MK and were waiting till 1june?

I always thought football contracts ran out at the end of June?
