I know a lot of people say that by the letter of the law, John Fleck deserved to be sent off. Just watched Match of the day - Man City v Spurs. Two shocking tackles, one by Harry Kane, one by Deli Ali. Both by the letter of the law should have been red, but no, both yellow. It is the inconsistency of referees that gets us all wound up.

If they were foreign they’d have been absolutely torn to bits by the pundits.

I like Spurs and I like Dele Alli, but there's a really cynical element to their play. Kane was just clumsy I think but Alli's was an ugly, ugly challenge. Tried to hurt him.

He's a nasty, aggressive little cunt. Both tackles were red cards. If Fleck walked for his, then both of them were early bath stuff. But no, let's play to the fucking cameras and keep he fuckers on the pitch.

PL football is as fucking bent as you'll get.

Dele Alli is a dirty little arsehole of late. His form has took a dip, he's not flying past people and he's fouling and diving more than ever.

He can coco. At least Kane showed some remorse.

But yeah, either they're reds or Fleck's a yellow.

Linesmen and refs have been piss poor all season in the Champ. So inconsistent.

Troy Deeney whilst being a twat could easily have just got a yellow.

Mark Duffy made the exact same challenge the other week (Fulham I think) that Sordell did that broke Coutts's leg.

Swings and roundabouts and part of football. Easy to criticise refs, like most of us can, but we don't always know what view they have and they need to make a decision without several replays and stills posted on here depending on what the posters belief is.

If Ali and Kane had made that contact with both feet off the floor, they'd have both walked. Both bad tackles, but they don't look so bad in real time.

Flecky isn’t an England player
i used to like Delli or Ali or whoever he is but he’s turned into a weapons grade prick

A lot of rumours around about Ali's attitude this season and his priority seemingly lying in self promotion rather than his football

Alli is a complete wanker.

The media love in with him is far too over the top, and he’s been shit this season.

He’s talented but clearly a snide, nasty little player.

I think you have identified the problem - in real time, even I can see the two-footed tackle. When it is a one-footed tackle, in real time often it is very difficult to spot the bad tackle. Same with diving for penalties - I don't get many right in real time. Doesn't stop me shouting at the ref, mind.

In both cases, their raised studs made direct contact with the legs of opposing players.

Law 12 states that red cards are given for (1) serious foul play. The definition of 'serious foul play' is " ... a foul committed using excessive force (i.e., "the player...is in danger of injuring his opponent")"

Now if Fleck did go in with both feet and clipped the Brizzle bloke (yet he wasn't that injured, or he'd have been up at Sheffield Hallamshire, getting a scan) yet Alli and Kane went directly in on the citeh players and you could see the soles of their boots making direct contact with the legs of the players, then the consistency is seriously fucked. My take is that because Fleck is Fleck and they are England players and media lovelies, the ref bottled it badly. If it were United players, they'd be walking.

I don't know why he has to be like this either. He has a bucket of ability and turns out for his fucking country, yet on the pitch he acts like a spoiled, petulant and spiteful kid.
