Why are the doubters steaming into the team at the critical moment? If i'd said to u, with 1 game to go, ud have a chance of auto promotion, would any of you not have taken that?

they've done well. they've played better football than we've seen for years and years. they've given everything. yes they missed out on a great chance late on to seal automatic, but give it a chance.

we are the second best team in the division. we finished miles ahead of the chasing pack. saying 'we always mess up in the playoffs' is like those commentators that say 'Sheffield United lost last time they played at Accrington Stanley..... in 1945.' it means nothing.

different players. different manager. a midfield that can tear any team in this league apart. we're going to Wembley, we're doing it the hard way, we're going up.

Football is for entertainment. its meant to be emotional and exciting. dont act like we have a divine right to win. get yourself to the game/s and lets do them all.

its not like you're going to give up on the Blades after all this time anyway, is it? :)

Last 6 form shows Stevenage as the big threat - Included Notts County to show their recent good form. They'll be as gutted they missed the play offs as we are to be in them.

Team W D L Pts
Charlton 5 1 0 16
PIGS 5 1 0 16
Blades 3 2 1 11
Udders 2 1 3 7
Franchise 2 1 3 7
Stevenage 4 2 0 14
Notts County 4 1 1 13

The biggest problem for me is we're pretty leaky at the back. 13 goals shipped in the last ten games. Fine if you've got a red hot striker up front, not so good if that striker is suddenly taken away.

Stevenage will be difficult to beat, we all know that. However, we are a clearly a better side and perhaps if we decided to stop having a competition to see who can get all the 'woe is me' stuff in earliest and support the team we might actually be giving ourselves a chance of progressing.

Nobody wanted the play-offs but here we are. It might be a bit easier to take if it was anyone else who had snatched 2nd with an unexpected run of form but it was them and we've just got to accept it, as difficult as that is (had to share the bus from town on the way back from our game with 4 typical bedwetting Wednesday fans high as kites on half a shandy singing about some non-entity who plays for them, teeth were well and truely gritted).

But we've got a game Friday night, no time to indulge in a bout of self pity. A good showing at Stevenage (maybe even a lead to defend?) and come Saturday morning things might seem a bit different.

Fans are rightly expressing concern because the team has bottled it at key moments this season. We had a big points league, we only needed 5 points from our last 3 games, we just needed to beat Stevenage at home to remain in the driving seat, we look a very average side without Ched....I could go on. And why should we be grateful for finising 3rd ....it's League 1 ffs.

Of course the fans have to stay fully behind the team in the play offs and I'm sure they will. I've got not worries about the fans. My concern is about the team - many of who need to up their game and start justifying their high wages.

Ok, I've got a suggestion. The doubters will shut the fuck up, but then they're allowed to say "I told you we were shit" when the team fuck it up AGAIN.

Or when is it most convenient for you for others to voice their concerns? Is there a schedule?

yes mate.. schedule is this.. shut the fuck up until after the game.. you have two days to moan and then three days before the game shut up again :D :D

I think people are allowed to voice their concerns whenever it suits them tbh. Other people then have the opportunity to debate those comments if/as/when they see fit and believe their counter argument has more merit.

Or, they can stamp their feet and demand people with said concerns shut up/f-off to S6/Meadowhall/I suppose you'd still whinge if we signed Messi etc etc

Growing some/manning up isn't something exclusive to one camp it seems.......

I'm going to report this post for being truth. It doesn't belong here.

I'm with Raul on this one. I don't really like how negative people are sometimes but they have every right to be.

My biggest concern is that we keep giving away the first goal. We've done it in our last 5 games now and that is something we really need to get control of.

You post this as if when turning up to watch the match we are all moaning! Utter tosh. I am right behind the team, but for God's sake they have really let us down when it mattered haven't they? Simply put Wednesday are better than us. Whether they have better players or the manager is simply better I don't know but he has got them to perform exeptionally - and Wilson hasn't. Now to lose Ched was the hammer blow but shouldn't DW have had plan B? A Jordan Slew type forward who could score some goals brought in in case he got convicted (or was that Beattie)?

So it's Stevennage away. Sometime under the law of averages we must/should win an away play off tie. We haven't done it in eight attempts Bristol C, Ipswich, Palace, Sunderland, Nottm Forest, Wolves, Preston, Burnley all five campaigns with different managers so it doesn't look good does it? But I'll be right behind the team...it is just until they win an away tie I am not confident at all and I expect there are many on here who concur with that.

So please we are not anti the team etc just that we perhaps are fed up with being always the bridesmaid and maybe for once we shouldn't expect anything at all. Then at least we can't be disappointed.

yes they have .. the table doesn't lie i'm afraid.. deal with it

tosh.. any other season our last ten games would have been promotion form.. we have been beaten by a team that have put an exceptional set of results together

Is it only me that can see weve still only lost 1 of our last 12 games
1-0 at a very good home side

my how bad are we

Wednesdays got up in the BlaCKWELL STYLE ,EFFICIENCY OVER STYLE

>Wednesdays got up in the BlaCKWELL STYLE ,EFFICIENCY OVER STYLE
i've no idea .. i dont' watch them play.. they got up because they fluked two exceptional loanees who have scored nearly every goal in the last ten games.. the lad from reading won't be there next season.

I think you are forgetting the 'Ched' incident.

Anyhow I travel in hope if not expectation.

Wasn't Hoskins supposed to be the replacement not BT.Hoskins had a good goal scoring record and looked a good signing if he had been fit ,then a double hernia? Did we get damaged goods and the medical staff missed this one.

Think he got it from sitting on the bench for two months

To be honest, I don't really give a shit if people come on here with their negativity as long as they leave it behind when they are actually at the match. That's when it really can make a difference but no doubt there'll be the usual boo boys and tactical geniuses raging from the terraces should we not be 3-0 up within the first 15 minutes.

we are in a similar position to England in the Euros
NO ONES EXPECTING US TO WIN IT , BUT YOU CANT DISCOUNT THE POSSIBILITY

We play like we did at MK Dons, Stevenage at home and at lowly Exeter yesterday and we won't win it.
At times you couldn't tell who was relegated and who was gunning for promotion yesterday.

I think Wilson did have a plan B - Hoskins, but unfortunately that was taken away from him in the form of a double hernia. Hardly Wilson's fault.

You are right that Jones has got Wednesday performing exceptionally well. Since Megson went they've taken 36 points from a possible 42, scoring 27 and conceding only 7. Any side in the whole league would find that difficult to live with. We got 90 points over the season. Not enough, but very nearly 2 points per game. That might not be exceptional, but it is pretty good.

Crystal Palace, Wolves and Burnley were not away ties. They were ties on neutral grounds. We have actually only lost two away ties in all - Bristol City and Sunderland. The last of those away defeats was some 14 years ago. Our record in terms of getting to play off finals is good. It's what we've done in the final that's been poor.

The play offs seem to be like a driving test. Some people take a bit longer than others to pass it, but most do so eventually. Maybe this time we will!

That's my view to be honest. I reserve the right to bitch and moan on line but I always turn up with a positive attitude, singing my heart out and not booing at all.

Also, I love how those who slam the pessimists have their own targets who it is ok to slag off every week.

now is not the time for recrimination , to any player
fans must focus on the positive

I know theres some inadequacies , or we wouldnt be in league 1 but lets get behind the team , not just take every opportunity to be critical

How on earth can you say that Palace, Wolves and Burnley weren't away ties? Were they at Bramall Lane? To say other wise is pedantic in the extreme. The point clearly lost despite trying to make it obvious is that away from Bramall Lane United have never won a play off game. They've also never scored in a play off final. Utter bilge. With only one goal in a FA Cup semi in recent years it looks like we are pretty spineless when facing the big games. Until they do nothing is going to change.

The sad thing is had we gone up automatically I think Wednesday would have made it through the play offs. Can't see the reverse happening at all.

They weren't away ties in the sense that at an away game the home team has the advantage. Not so in those cases. Point holds for me.

Squeaky Jesus, if I'm not allowed to be negative now, when can I be? Believe me, I've clapped louder than a seal at Seaworld in the past, but this season feels like a relegation at the moment.
