This has got me confused!
Most people on here (and other media) saying the football we play is "Turgid, crap, boring "Wilderball" et al
Most saying the summer recruitment window was crap.
Most saying CW has to change his "mindset" regarding "Wilderball"
Most saying he has an obsession with playing some players, Norwood, Brewster, Lunny' etc

Most saying "he has to stay as manger"

Surely the way to change the above is to change the manager, that seems to be be how things work in football.

So why do most people think we should keep Wilder ?
PS: His past record getting us to where we are doesn't cut it with me.

This is not meant as criticism of CW or any individual player, I'm genuinely interested.

Simply put I disagree with the above if I’m honest I don’t think the intention of the manager has changed with regards to how we play but due to injuries and a loss of form of senior players our style of play has suffered aswell as results.

I also disagree it’s been a horrendous transfer window we addressed most of the obvious holes in the squad going into the summer with the exception of a number 10. The issue is that other players have massively dropped off making it look like we haven’t addressed our issues when before the summer those issues weren’t there. This has then contributed to other players struggling to find their feet as they were coming into a side that wasn’t playing good football. But bogle looks a player. Ampadu (who I criticised) seems to be growing into himself and the team. Ramsdale has been shockingly exposed and has made mistakes but he’s not a write off and I’m not giving up on Brewster either.

Because all of the criticism you’ve mentioned is largely bollocks.

“Most people” haven’t said any of this.

Hi Stegosaurus here

I dont get the criticism of Wilder. He may have spaffed millions away on crap, he makes baffling decisions like leaving our best strikers on the bench, insists on playing players who deserve dropping, only reluctantly starts Sharp, sticks with the same tactics even when they arent working, makes baffling decisions, guided us to the worst start in Premier League history ...

It hurts that you have gone from the worst premier league team in history to the worse start in premier league history. I am sure as you lot like to tell us we will put this on the honours board.
I thought you should be down helping trying to get the under soil heating going

Wilder has taken United from obscurity to the PL in a short space of time, if the top brass got rid of CW soon I'd feel it would be premature. With relegation looming and the club in covid-era uncertainty, rushing to find a new manager without giving CW a crack to get the Blades back up would be short-sighted. Clubs like Chelsea can afford to chop and change, United can't.

Don't know where you get ' most people ' from

Funnily enough I’ve just had this conversation about an hour ago with my brother in law who is a 39yo ex pro that was with us under warnock, he’s also played for wilder in his younger years and knows him well.
He believes wilder won’t change, is too old fashioned towards modern day football on the pitch, has and will always put grafters before skilful players and reckons he actually likes the rough and ready old fashioned approach to training and facilities, he strongly believes he won’t progress us any further and we should be looking for a successor to build on what CW has achieved.

Pelters for this but I agree with him, we are awful to watch now, boring and predictable. I can’t see much changing next season except we’ll have more possession to be boring with.

Ooh yes our style of play under wilder is famously ‘old fashioned’

Managers like Bielsa and Guardiola are regularly heard to say things like ‘overlapping centre backs, how old fashioned’

Never mind the fact that wilder and knill basically invented a new style of football (go on, prove to me that somebody else did it first) and that world renowned coaches like Bielsa Guardiola and Pochetino specifically praised our style of football saying they’d never seen it before.

No, one ex-pro who played under Warnock (great yardstick for excellent football 👀) and then under wilder probably at Halifax, says it’s old fashioned. I guess he must be right.

Most?.averaging 30,000 last year less 3,000 away fans. Very much doubt over 13501 have been saying what's on your list. 27,000 may be very disappointed but most people would ;I assume be in the disappointed side of a list.

Espania my old son, I'll tell you why I think we should keep him,
1. He's not some mercenary import who has parachuted in from a failed Managers scrap heap somewhere. He's a true Blade from way back.
2. His record in getting us into the premiership over the past 5 seasons stands comparison with any other Manager we 've had at the Lane.
3. His tactics as applied to the Team kept us up last year and were applauded by almost every pundit I heard on TV/ Radio.
4. Maybe his Transfer acquisitions havent been the best but that not 100% down to him. These players have to want it and perform. He cant get on the field and do it for them. Maybe they will confound the doubters over the next year or so.
5. Having looked at the number of Managers we have had at the lane over the past 20 years I would dread us going down that road again. Allardyce, Pulis, Lampard - you can keep them.
6. He's a genuine bloke not a fancy dan prancing about the touchline in a 3 piece suit and a Crombi overcoat trying to get the camera mans attention.

Anyway this argument has gone sterile now . He's staying. Get a Life......Suck it Up.....Wake up and smell the Coffee. Accept any other cliches you've got coming .Have run out of patience now so will leave it there.
keep the Faith.

Have to admit I'm trying to work out who this player could be
