I thought Rotherham and Doncaster both had reasonably sized rugby union sides?

They do. South Yorkshire has always had a thriving Rugby Union scene. Rugby League is a bit of a joke round here. The nonsense about the class system and Rugby Union in the region is also a fallacy, try preaching that to members of Dinnington, Mosborough and Sheffield Oaks RUFC's if anyone fancies some ridicule pouring on them.

What does thriving mean? I’m picturing 50 to 100 supporters stood on the side of the pitch.

I’ve never met anyone local that supports, attends or plays at any local rugby union club
I’ve also never heard anything rugby union related mentioned on the local radio or the local paper.

Gazza turned out for Sheffield Tigers III once. He was supposed to be 'recovering' from an injury and staying with Waddle in Dore. I think he was at Boro at the time and of course they didn't sanction it, as they never even knew.

"Thriving" also relates to the number of people playing it and involved with the clubs, I used to (you've never been on a piss up to compare with rugby ones by the way). The long gone and much lamented Green 'Un used to have a full page feature on the fortune of the local rugby clubs. Other than the Star, which I don't read so don't know, they aren't going to generate much publicity now are they?

I have no issue with PUSBCC or his mates; if the situation was in reverse the amount of justification and wailing on here about other fans taking the piss would be off the charts.

But it would have delayed you lot getting home, which seems to be the biggest problem?

NO. The biggest problem wasn't us getting home at all...it was they way you chose to protest with a complete disregard for anyone but yourselves. Had your fans group approached this site for example, or made it publically aware that you planned to protest against your owners in front of the Sky cameras then you would have undoubtedly got our support as we had done with Charlton earlier in the season who went about things in a far better was than your lot.

Instead you turned your protests towards our players, whistling increased and more tennis balls were thrown when we attacked and that in turn pissed us off as fans hence the pro-SISU chants.......had you shown us a bit of class and respect you would have got it back.

Horrible night, in a horrible soulless stadium with a horrible set of classless home fans...................it was just a thing of pure beauty however when the pitch invasion lead to our winner 90 seconds after the re-start............karma is a bitch.....

it like pickin a scab this thread, end of the day they were a bit out of order what happened and our response was not right either but it happened so live with it .At the end of the day we've both got bigger battles to fight.
Come on kiss and make up its Valentine's day!

That night we played well for the first 20 minutes then gradually got worse and worse.
It was one of our worse performances of the season and in the post match interview you could see even in victory Wilder wasn’t happy.
Why did we play so poorly? Wilder obviously thought the off field events and stoppages had a major influence.
It was ironic that the final pitch invasion affected the concentration of Coventry City, which helped us score the late winner.

Women threw themselves in front of charging horses...

Football supporters blew whistles....

I'm more hardcore than that. I'm planning a dirty protest at IKEA if they don't give me what they owe ;)

And lose them both! Last three games have been Forest Green Rovers away, Accrington Stanley at home and Colchester away. Lost all three.

I'll tell you what, when I first started watching football, I never thought I'd see the day when Coventry lost to Accrington Stanley. To be fair, I bet you didn't either.

Some decent points Highfield and if I had attended I would have cheered very loud too because it was very frustrating and as you say the game could have been abandoned and we would have no doubt had to replay it as we were drawing at the time. United fans like many fans would have been irked at the situation and then it turned personal between us and them which was always going to happen.

I don't hold any resentment though and I wish them well in their attempts to remove SISU.

I tend to think that as 80 odd minutes had been played and they were drawing the FA would have seen any abandonment as a draw and we would have received one point.

Not much to moan about you might say, but what about the two lost points? That would have meant no 100 point season and it would have taken just that little bit longer to get away from the pack, and we know what we are like in those circumstances.

So attempting to get a match abandoned has serious ramifications further down the line, which Coventry fans should have understood, but decided, for their own selfish reasons, to disrupt the match as much as possible and disregard the fact that promotion and relegation matters were at stake.

for their own selfish reasons

Without wanting to go round in circles on this (whilst being aware I am contributing to exactly that) and without speaking on their behalf, I suspect the Cov fans might argue that they were protesting about something more important than an abandoned match and a points deduction. SISU are worse than that dolphin murdering chancer from over in South Barnsley. We would not want to be burdened by either, as is evident on the threads about The Prince.

I too played devils advocate on the whole situation and after much deliberation came to the conclusion Coventry fans need sectioning

Is the non-entity the club that caused one of the biggest upsets in sporting history and were disgracefully overlooked by the BBC, or maybe that should be the British public, as sports team of the year ?. Also never received the backing of the Sheffield populace, which is why they are where they are now.

And you think that if Sheffield had a top flight RU club, the people of this City would flock to see them Snooty ?. I love both codes and would love to see our City produce good well supported teams but I doubt I will see that in my lifetime. I have though seen the Eagles lift a major trophy in their sport something I doubt I will see United emulate, much as I would love them to. There are other sports in this city which I don't go to watch but I always hope they do well as they represent my city, I'm proud of them, you should be too.

Shall we just leave you and yourself to get on with it?

Haven't they agreed to pay compensation for infringing your Interlectual Property rights of nailing two planks together yer Crab?

It's ongoing. They are trying to get out on a technicality. Namely, my planks are proper wood (well, proper-ish) and their stuff is bits of chipboard held together by Seagull shit.

I told you left over wood from your grave robbing business would come in useful.

Not so much abuse as an opinion based on reality.
