Jose baxter

could have prob sorted him out an he would be challenging Duffy for his role , would have probably been the perfect role for him also !

Problem with Baxter is, for all his skill he was not fast enough and needed too long on the ball. Probably there's truth in the belief that he was a bit lazy. But at his best he was MOTM or pushing it. I agree a drug-free eager Baxter would benefit us at the moment.

Can't see how he could cut it in the PL. Everyone except defenders and keeper have zero time on the ball and must run with it or pass immediately. No trapping the ball and looking for a pass a la Jose.

Its a kind gesture from Everton but i think we all know they are giving him a shop window with their U23S to get a move back into league football.

It gives their U23s a bit of experience at not a lot of cost.

I think i would think more of the lad if he made an apology for his actions and the financial cost for SUFC.

Nobody with an ounce of compassion would want the latter.
No one knows what's made him like this either. He could be hiding some dark secret like abuse when he was a kid or something like that. Of course that doesn't absolve him of all personal responsibility but I'm not going to say whether it's the right thing for Everton to do or not, as I don't know enough about it really. But if he's desperate to get his life back on track I won't criticise anyone for trying to help him.

Hopefully, in due course, he will.

There's no doubt in my mind that he's been a Bellend. However, you are spot on about nobody knowing what has gone on. I myself have sometimes had those "I'd take anything just to not fucking feel like this" moments. But ultimately, we are responsible for our own actions (and their consequences), whatever they may be.

Fair play to Everton, hopefully Jose will show some humility and gratitude because there will be plenty of people in life who need help, but won't be as lucky as he is.

Another player who cost the club money even after we gave him a second chance. He owes the club an apology and some money in my view.

Despite how last season went, we had one less player to choose from and that was all down to his stupid actions.

Obviously he has issues that he needs to deal with but ultimately his actions have cost us.

If Everton want to offer him a deal then fair enough, I don't think he deserves it though.

You've all beaten me to the drug puns, so I will just leave this

I thought their new owner was Iranian, not Columbian?

I predict, if Everton sign Jose Baxter and he plays for them successfully in the Premier League, it'll be made into a Hollywood Blockbuster, to rival When Saturday Comes.

It's got to be a choice between Robert Downey Jr and Charlie Sheen for the lead role, but who would play Koemen, Clough, McCabe etc etc? :)
McCabe could be played by Leslie Neilson

What is the better end-scene? Baxter scoring in the Premier League, or swinging from his garage ceiling?
That does seem rather pathetic after I watched the Gary Speed story last night. Not that Baxter is anything like Speed.

I wonder how our current crop of midfield players compare in terms of games to goals?
Baxter 85 league appearances and 20 goals. At least with him even if not fully committed through his addiction, you'd get some defending and and some runs in to the box.

He's a lucky lad to be given the chance again. Well done Everton and I hope he doesn't let them down.

Some will feel the scot broth his problems on himself and Everton have made him a souper offer.
:tumbleweed:

If you're reading this Baxter make sure you don't fuck up this time.

I'm glad that Everton have thrown him a life line, because that's in all possibility what they might have actually done. Remember seeing us at our worst and the only player who could actually pick a pass that wasn't sideways or shit was Baxter he stood out to me as the only quality ball player we had at that time, however some time later while suspended I saw him off the pitch when he and scougs were asked to meet n greet the fans in the inter bar with frenchie...

After a brief wait a security guard walked in the bar with scougs and he proceeded to chat away with the fans and have photos with the kids (some were bigger than him) and sign stuff, no sign of Baxter, then almost ten mins later The security guard re appears and Baxter is sloping in behind him, he couldn't be arsed and couldn't string a sentence together to save his life, although not playing he had big black rings under his eyes and looked knackered like he'd just rolled in from a nightclub, he had the look and body language of a lazy stoner kid and I just thought you bloody idiot, all the talent and a class apart in league one especially but I could see he was a recreational abuser and it was going to go tits up for him..

If you ask me, he'll fuck it up, but their concience will be clear won't it..

Don't think he reaaly deserves another chance but as others have said a very kind gesture by Everton for one of there ex youth players ,
A fit Baxter and with his head sorted out, he would still be a very good player
As others have said CW ( if baxtr hadn't been such an idiot ) could have prob sorted him out an he would be challenging Duffy for his role , would have probably been the perfect role for him also !

A fit Baxter, who was on the right path mentally and socially would be a very good player at L1/Champ Level - and I agree with you - if he hadnt been an idiot and had been here over the summer - CW would have sorted him out, much like Freeman and Coutts.

Baxter was always going to get another club once his ban was over - he has too much talent. But he is extremely lucky to get a chance at the top level.

As with Ched, once Baxter has served his punishment, he is free to come back into the game - that's only fair. So I'm not going to slate EFC for helping him out. I hope he has learnt from the last year, and has turned his life around. Whether he has or not, remains to be seen.

It summed it up for me at the Wigan home game last season that he was fat, idle piece of shit. He hits the hardest pass in history to someone four fucking yards away, the ball rebounds past him and he trots for one second then packs up. Wigan then go on to score. Just cemented my opinion of him that he's about as much use as a hat rack to a reindeer. Fuck him.

'If he's guilty it would make him more stupid than the stupidest dumbarse in Stupidville'

'Can't argue with that, if he is guilty then I expect the club to get rid'

'Surely a kid who could potentially be earning tens of thousands of pounds a week in a few years would not be stupid enough to get involved in selling pot and counterfeiting money??? The fact the other two guys arrested were so much older is werid too.

Don't want to cast dispersions, but maybe he was buying drugs when the other two got busted and therefore been caught up in the possesion thing, either that or he is a complete moron.

If its shown to be true, I hope the club show him the door.'

On the flip side, he shows good entrepreneurial spirit
