Slew’s career is a lesson for young talented players.

Such a hot teenage prospect destined for a big future in the game.
He agrees to take his big move early before he’s been developed, receives a massive pay rise then hardly ever plays again.

He’s now 26 and I bet most football fans have never even heard of him, such a waste.

Wonder if he has any regrets leaving SU earlier than planned? Suppose he’s earnt big money as a teenager so might not be bothered that’s he’s hardly played since,

Is the lesson to cash in when your stock is high? Because that’s not a bad lesson.

Good point but if he had stayed at SU he would have probably developed and improved making him a much better player than he is now. Amazing to think one of our hottest talents is now 26 years old and can’t even manage to acquire a league club, he’s currently playing for Boston United in the National League north, second tier of the non league.

A lot of conjecture there methinks.

Worked out alright for DCL though.

I just think it was probably more a case that Jordan wasnt very good.

Many a young man has looked the part on the pitch in their younger years and then faded away cos they simply weren't good enough.
Didn’t have much beyond pace. I remember a poster on BM saying that within five years of going to Blackburn he’d be playing parks football. He wasn’t far off.

Or Trenton Wiggan.

All the pace in the world but complete shite when he got to the ball.

Whenever there's a young prospect you get people bigging them up and, when they fail, you get all sorts of imaginative reasons for why they would've been great if only...

Lots of good youth prospects don't go on to succeed in the professional game. Most of the time the reasons are pretty boring.

If he'd stayed with us his earnings still wouldn't have caught up with what he got for signing for the mighty Blackburn Rovers

Has maintained a career as a professional striker for nine years despite only scoring 13 goals in all that time, and three of those were for us, according to Wikipedia. How did he manage that?

Makes Gary Madine look like Pele.
That's nothing, Dean Hammond did it for longer with less goals, he made Slew look like Messi!!

Re-arrange the following words into a well known phrase or saying.

Pants we Blackburn's down had

Blackburn gambled on potential, thing is potential is only really judged with hindsight and hindsight has proven that Slew ended up having minimal ability..2 winners from 3 Us and Slew GLTTL

Maybe he should have refused a life changing contract and got a career ending injury 2 weeks after.

So I will say it again. anyone on hear saying they would not secure their financial future when the opportunity comes along is either fucking stupid or a liar.

Would you prefer us to have given a player who wasn’t very good loads of money?o_O

In your effort to slag off the club you seem to have forgot to think it through properly

Had quite a complex mis diagnosed back injury from what I remember??

Made the best decision of his life to take what was on offer at the time. Fair fucks to the lad for that.

If you’re not good enough you’re not good enough , not sure how it would have made any difference for slew

Wow very touchy
If you're going to criticise somebody at least criticise them for saying something that is untrue
He left, earned more money in one move than he would have done in 8 years if he'd stayed, even if he turned out to be a half decent League One player. I don't see any untruth in that statement

Personally I never rated him, some of our fans thought he was the next Pele, but I didnt rate him so didn't bat an eyelid when he left
