Jordan Slew To Chesterfield

Best career move Jordan Slew ever made leaving us for Blackburn. The trajection of his career has shown he wasn't good enough to be earning the kind of money they offered, but - they did offer, he accepted, he knew he'd got lucky and he took his chance. It didn't work out from a footballing point of view, but he probably now owns a decent home, a car and has some money left over in the bank. No brainer.

A mate of mine is friends with his ex girlfriend. He was slagging off United long before Blackburn made a move, thinking he was too big for us.
I genuinely hope he continues to fail, he's a monumental prick.

I assume he needs a driver as part of his package or will the mean streets of Ches be subject to his M4 following his scrape with the law the other month?

Why does anyone have any issues with Slew? We got £1m+ for a player who was worth about a fiver and he made a load of money as well, everyone's a winner (well other than Blackburn obviously).

Hence why he also couldn't be arsed to try his best at Cambridge.

That's a canny move by Morgs - Chezzer are on a no lose situation.

The kid had promise and if he scores a few goals could be worth a few quid to them.
If it doesn't work out - on what must be a virtual doggie's chance for Slew then he gets realeased.

When Jordy Slew first broke into our first team, I remember a mini bus driver who was taking me to East Midlands Airport - this bit isn't particularly relevant btw, told me that he had a brother - Jason who was in the academy & was twice the player.

Anyone know what happened to Jason?

You should start a new thread; "Whatever happened to the minibus driver's bother".

Not sure why it's on the Slew thread...

ISC (I konw, I know, no-one likes a smart arse)

Gutted when we sold him but it looks like we got away with murder selling him for a million now.

Interesting to see where the line-up from the FA Youth Cup final have ended up, as of now...

George Long (SUFC regular)
Ben Montgomery (dropped out of football [to study, I think])
Harry Maguire (Hull regular now)
Terry Kennedy (SUFC - injury-plagued; clinging on)
Aaron Barry (Derry City)
Corey Gregory (Stocksbridge PS)
Matt Harriott (Wealdstone)
Elliott Whitehouse (Nuneaton Town - described recently as their "talisman")
Callum McFadzean (SUFC - clinging on)
Joe Ironside (Nuneaton Town)
Jordan Slew (Chesterfield - short-term deal)

So, two have "made it" of the five stand-outs (with, maybe, Elliott Whitehouse gearing up for a second chance in league football).

Best of luck to Jordan Slew. I'm not into harbouring grudges against him. Would be great to see the Gleadless lad come good (but he'd somehow have to remember how to score goals to stand a chance).

This sort of 'Will they make it?" thread reminds me of Russell Beardsmore (the next big thing for a couple of weeks ages ago), Mark Robins (scored a winner in a League Cup final), and others.

You can get it into the Man United first team have a big impact and still not make it.

How anyone hopes to pick a winner from junior football I've no idea.

Does anyone have a high success rate?

Jerome. He is in the u18s squad. He should find out soon or has already found out if the club is offering him a pro contract

That's why he's moved short term to Chesterfield, cos he can cycle from his Mums, he'll be back in the Prem once his ban is up ;)

I thought at the time he had a good future at Bramall Lane, and his couple of goals at the back end of 2010/11 showed glimpses of a lot of potential but he took his big move far, far too young and wasn't anywhere near ready for it.

I seem to remember that his agent at the time was Mark Rankine, and McCabe not being happy we had no choice in selling him, i think he banned Rankine from United for a while

Obviously better at getting good deals for young players than he was at actually playing the game.

It is, but thats probably above average for Youth team players progressing to make a living from the game.
Most years, we`ve had none come through.

Makes Adkins 50% hope for the first team look a tad optimistic.
Not sure it makes it optimistic. The following sufc youth players currently in league football

Long

Lo

walker jags Maguire naughton
Quinn lowton reed
Slew sharp

There's probably a few more operating at or above our level
