Should we take this competition seriously or just use it to have a look at a few fringe players.

For me,we need to look at a few fringe players like Westlake,Miller and Chappell. I think we have to start with 6 players who started on Saturday but there is scope to find someone who can help us create more goals

I'd put a couple of fringe players in.

We've sold just under 400 tickets so far. It's gonna be a low crowd.

Is it the same as last year when we had to start with 7 (I think) of the previous league game match day sqaud in the starting line up?

Doesn't surprise me re ticket sales. Live on Sky and some expensive away trips coming up to Preston/Blackpool,Mk and Swindon

At least it means it'll be easier getting served in Hooters :)

DW will have to use some fringe players with another game on saturday and tuesday 3 games in 7 days is alot to expect fom the same 11.

cant believe its been televised.
crap competition that shouldnt be prioritised.id play long again to get another 90 under his belt-throw chappell and miller up front and hope for the best.
i think county will take us to the cleaners.

Notts County away in a Mickey Mouse cup (that in years to come I'd even be embarrassed to say we were in it) live on T.V, or Preston away?
No contest if it was one or the tother.

Nah, don't care about it. Should be able to play the U12s if we want, but rules don't allow it. Shite cup

Posted in another thread that I thought we should start Westlake, McFadzean, Chappell and Miller - keep the spine of the team as it is as much as possible.

Am totally amazed that fans can't be arsed with this cup.

Perhaps winning something might just instill in the team/club/fans the belief that we can WIN when it REALLY matters i.e a play off/ big game with the pigs breathing down yer neck/cup semi-final etc instead of always coming in the brides maid and wondering why.

Talk about blinkered fans ffs. Remember Mickey Mouse cup or no Mickey Mouse cup WINNING can become a habit. I am sure Alex Fergusson knows all to well about that. Get a grip and WIN SOMETHING FOR ONCE SUFC!

I'll go to bed now, rant over, thanks.

Think getting a difficult tie at Coventry if we win a difficult tie at County has taken away the bit of enthusiasm I had for this game.

Give McDonald, Blackman and Kitson a night off, have a look at Chappell and Miller and one or two others and see what happens...

What's the point of this cup? As I understand it all crowds (except for the final) are small and I wouldnt be surprised if clubs actually lost money on staging pre-final games when you take into account the overheads they incur. Add to that the risk of injury to players and you have to think why?

I suppose I may be looking at this from the point of view of the "biggest club" in the competition (perhaps the way Man Utd see the Europa League - we would be delirious to be in that) and maybe it looks different from the point of view of Accrington or Morecambe...

Play as many fringe players as we can get away with and get the hell out of it as it'll probably cost us thousands per round to be in it.

Joke competition with no value and a blight on the football calendar.

The fact that there had to be a rule put in to make clubs take it seriously tells us everything we need to know about it in my opinion.

Hardly anyone takes it seriously, and therefore we certainly needn't. I wish we could put our full youth squad in to be honest.

I'll watch tomorrow night and hope we win, but won't be gutted when we don't...

Its a match, that Wilson (if he has the balls) cangive some of the younger players Chappell, Tonne, Miller, Philliskirk etc a chance to prove themselves.
McMahon hasn't proved the player his pedigree suggest (why did Middlesboro let him go if he was any good?) so get Westlake in!
Whether its a Mickey Mouse Cup or what - it's a game situation that Wilson can try out new things - I for one am tired of seeing Porter/Cresswell as Plan B!

The young players must be given a run out tomorrow take the positives from it and implement them at Preston.

Wilson has made some shocking decisions tactically and with team selections. I believe there is an element of fear with how he is managing at the moment and it's showing with the performances.

Ive listened to his after match comments and he seems to think everything's ok well I can tell him now it ain't!

I wouldnt play the following, Macdonald, Kitson and Blackman. Said when we played them at home that County will go all out to injure or get these 3 sent off. Cheating dirty sods.

'Shocking'? That's a bit OTT

The word means 'causing shock, horror or disgust'

Maybe you're easily shocked, horrified or disgusted?

I thought shocking is mild to describe some of his decisions lately.
Playing Williams in midfield,Cofie on the wing, continually bringing on Cresswell as sub instead of Millar, persevering with Mcmanhan and ignoring Westlake forsaking our youngsters and he thinks this seasons acceptable so far, well its not.

can you still buy Johnstone's paint??haven't seen it in yonks

Yup, I had a decorator do some work for me a few years ago. I subsequently had a radiator moved and needed to repaint some of the wall. When it dried I didn't understand why it was a slightly different shade despite being a different colour. Turns out that even though it was a Dulux colour I had requested, when he gets paints mixed up he uses a Johnstone's base rather than Dulux.

We took this seriously last year, apparently.

Chappell, Westlake, Harriott, McFadzean, Miller are players who should be given a chance. Doubt they will though!
