John Lundstram

Never understood the Lunny hatred, apart from the fact that he had big shoes to fill (Coutts), which is hardly his fault.

Off all our midfielders, it would be the sight of Lundstram charging forward at full pelt that would put the shits up opposition players, he is a solidly built six footer. Always shouting for the ball, always looking for space.

I think his goals have all come from outside the box/edge of the area?

Anyway, as we have all said, hard to pick a MOTM from that game. Outstanding, despite conceding at the end (although that was the exact same spot we leaked goals at Preston away and Villa (I think?) at home, so either JOC has to stay back or Stevens has to be more involved.

Even in his early matches when he gave the ball away a few times
I was impressed that he never hid, still showed for the ball calling for a pass and still trying occasional difficult risky passes.
Remember he’s only young and still learning his trade.

I really believe in time that his all round dynamic game will make him our best midfielder, better than both Fleck or Coutts.

He's probably the most likely of our midfield to get a goal I think. Certainly not afraid to get into positions and take a shot, just needs to improve the quality of those shots a little. He did infuriate me a bit with the number of round the corner flicks to no-one he managed against Cardiff but definitely has the potential .

That's the best we've seen him for me on Saturday...A couple of times he lost the ball, and should have really scored with the chances he had,but passed the ball well, drove forward and great ball to get the assist for Leon...Deserves to keep his place for Barnsley.

I very much doubt that Tufty wants to sell Fleck ....... and if the Board force the issue and sell him against Tufty's wishes ....... they should be stoned in the car park for their foolishness !! o_O

UTB & FTP

Of course Wilder wouldn’t want to sell him but if the right offer comes in for him I doubt it matters what CW Wants

How the hell do we get Lundstram, Fleck, Evans, Duffy, Brooks and Coutts when fit into the same team? Our midfield is stupidly strong and cost us stupidly little money, best in the league maybe? If only we could take chances....

Well, I’ll give you the starting point:

Never understood the Lunny hatred, hatred.

There’s been no hatred of Lundstram on here that I’ve seen. There’s been a number of fans honestly expressing an opinion about him that he was slow and wayward with his passing at first. Wilder has been critical of him for similar reasons, “ giving the ball away too cheaply”. Which he was. I was one of them but I’ve never hated the lad or said he was rubbish.

He’s really improved a lot of late. Credit to him and the management and coaching staff because the lad is looking like he is adjusting to this level now and making a good player.

Maybe we’ll be saying the same about Leonard in 6 months time?

His idol was obviously Steven Gerrard. Hopefully he can become half as good!

There were people saying he simply wasn't good enough for our team. It wasn't a case of saying he had an "off game", or wasn't "quite at the races today", some said he simply wasn't good enough.

Based on what he showed back then that was correct though wasn’t it? He wasn’t good enough. He looked like he was struggling to adjust to the standard of football at this level.

The difference is condemning the bloke to say he’ll never be good enough. Maybe some said that too? If so then that’s been proved wrong so many times in the past. Some players take longer to adjust than others. Some never adjust. It’s hard to know.

I just think footballers are not objects of hate, or love and worship either for that matter. But I accept I am not in the majority thinking that way. They come in, they do a job. If it’s a good job - great! They stay. If it’s not a good job - too bad - they don’t. If they do a really good job they go sooner than we wish.

Not disagreeing with any of that pal, but you said that no one was against Lunny on here, when they were. Even now he splits opinion, even after assisting Leon on Monday.

No I was referring to the “hatred” word. How any fan can literally “hate” a player who wears the shirt for our club I find hard to understand.

If someone hurt a member of my family or loved ones I might “hate” them. In fact, I’d probably want to kill them and be happy to suffer the consequences. But “hating” a young lad who is honestly trying his best for our club but hasn’t quite reached the standard we expect? I’m sorry, I don’t get that emotion at all.

I didn’t even “hate” Hammond, who I thought was the biggest waste of space in decades. I thought he was good once, but not for us. And if we were daft enough to sign him then that’s not his problem.

Yeah it seems now there’s a choice of you have to like Evans and hate Lundstram etc. I feel both play better when both in the side. We dominated Brentford and Cardiff with Lundstram in the side.

I believe we have missed Lundstram a lot recently as he looks like he’s always going to get a goal. I hope we play them together with Fleck.

Then we have to find a way next season to get Coutts in to fire to our new striker who’s sending us to the premiership.
