Very Coutts like isn't he? As you say, always available and mixes it up nicely between the simple and the more ambitious passes. They don't all come off but who's do? Great age as well with time to improve.

Very happy with this signing

If he's anywhere as good as the great man, gerrimin.

I've seen a bit of this lad. He has a good pedigree and quite a bit of class about him. Another proper footballer to add to our growing and impressive selection. You simply can't have too many talented players.

Just the second centre-back (vital in my view), another 'up top' as Tufty puts it, and a second keeper and we'll be very competitive even in the League of Titans.

Like the look of him from those clips - looks an insisive passer that can keep the ball and use it well. One of my main worries was if coutts got injured then we have no one that can fulfill that same role.

Promising that he's been made their captain too. Right age, decent pedigree and a good price - a lot to like about that deal.

stull think there is a role in the squad for a box to box midfielder too - to cover more of flecks role so hopefully it's the walker money freeing up abitnof cash.

Together with the Fantastic Four signing up, It all rather nails the recent nonsense from a couple of trouble-makers about dressing room unrest and Wilder at loggerheads with the board, doesn't it?

It does indeed!

If we can get a centre back in before the end of July we'll be in a great position going forward. Can then bide out time and see what moves attacking wise before the end of August.

Only thing to moan about then will be the away kit

CW has identified targets, I think we universally agree with the positions we need. He likes to have competition for places one for each position.

We get the key areas right (Spine of team). We seem to have the core sorted, but if the core becomes injured suspended we need replacements that come in and the standard doesn't drop to a league two level.

Like now I have no issues who starts at full backs. Yes we all have our preferences but we couldn't argue who started all are capable to play.

Let's hope they come in and our bids are accepted. Earlier the better.

That`s because all that has made made up.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Seems a good and sensible signing, if this comes off. As others have said, he provides much needed cover and competition in the middle of the park, an area where we lack any. Caruthers and Brooks are more advanced than Fleck & Coutts and aren't really adequate replacements. Lundstram and hopefully Leonard will provide the extra numbers further back,

Wonder if this signals the end of Reeds career at the Lane unless he pulls up some trees at Chezzy

Reports from Oxford side suggest he's very close. Reports are from there manager please he also didn't play last night either.

Remember him well from out two games this season.

Both games superb first half, didn`t give anything away, second half disappeared as our midfield got on top.
Nice passer of the ball, right age, fits the model of a Wilder player.

Will be better with better players.

A good signing IMO.

There could be more coming our way too, apparently Birmingham have rejected a £5m offer from Fulham for Che Adams.

No. Reed's career is finished at the Lane anyhow, regardless of this. He's a tidy little footballer is Reed - but he's one of those who are destined to spend his career in the lower leagues I'm afraid. And that's not where we are going now.

Been on there message board.

Big lad, controls the game if given some space. Comes and gets the ball from deep, a box to box player but defensively is his weakness. If he gets time and space he will destroy teams. A big size.

I'm sure Roy will do a better summary once signed. But at 23 Club Captain known to be a good passer. Out of contract end of season another brilliant signing from CW on paper.

Low risk fee believed to 500-600k.

Amazing isn't it.

These are the type of players we as a club should have been picking up for years. Even when we were chucking a bit of cash about 10 years ago we were making mistakes and overlooking these types of player.

And I say it was because the manager and club at the time were lazy in not having an extensive scouting network.
Clough started the ball rolling....granted his brother was head scout but he did much of the scouting himself too.
Under Adkins obviously that changed again, and the pressure on Adkins means he just went for players he thought he knew. Clown.

But right back on track with this Mitchell fella...hope he too got a nice little pay rise recently

Encouraging comments on there, seemed to be more of a play maker than a tackler and strong passer of the ball - so could be that we are still after a defensive mid and he the coutts type...

Shame he's not supposed to very quick as I think that's an element we could do with in the middle of the park - but if he was rapid too he'd prob still be at Everton.

Odd thing is, we were very clearly looking at Leonard and Holmes at the same time.

Lundstram is apparently akin to neither of these players.

So, if we're still trying to get Leonard, have we given up on getting a forward the likes of Holmes? Or has Brooks done enough to force himself into Wilder's thinking here?
