John Egan up top vs Bristol City - this is not a drill!

Fuck it, stick Uremovic up there just to scare the shite out of their defence. Best not to worry about the finishing though.

It's becoming a difficult one for Hecky. McBurnie, for whatever reason, is well below standard but with £20m price tag and no other fit strikers, it's going to be difficult to justify leaving him out, not to mention what that would do for McBurnie's confidence. Nevertheless, the manager is there to make the difficult decisons. If Billy still isn't fit, I'd play Ndiaye and MGW up top. At least we should see some movement and the rest of the team would have to play it to feet or play through balls for them to run onto, rather than knocking it high. McBurnie wins all his headers but invariably they don't go to one of our players.

I think Egan was at his best when all he had to worry about was defending. He was always a brave, tigerish defender, who put his head where some players wouldn’t put their feet. But now Hecky is asking him to be like Socrates or Beckenbauer and initiate all our plays from the back, but as we all know (except Hecky), Egan is far too slow for this role and his plodding style invites pressure onto us, especially when we’re up against a pressing team or a savvy striker. Because of this I feel Egan is one of the reasons why our style of play has now become so slow and pedestrian.

I dont think McBurnie will even be in the line up tomorrow. Not because I think he is rubbish but because he limped off with an injury. We are well past the bare bones of a team we are onto the clutching at straws part now. If we end up in the play offs and do win them it will be some kind of miracle.

Reminiscent of Chris Morgan playing up front vs Millwall.
Whilst Luke Beckett saved Oldham from relegation, having been loaned out by Warnock after 1 start.

Warnock in 2004-5 had a lot of trouble with the forward line.

I believe in miracles - where you from ? You sexy thing , you sexy thing you .

Great Abba sing that one

I think it’s become apparent over the last few games, that MGW isn’t a striker.
He's not, but I said he'd play behind. It would be a 5-2-2-1 with Ndiaye and MGW both with licence to wander when we have the ball.

Latching on to a comment where Egan was more use than McBurnie in the ten minutes he spent up front.

For the more head it kick it type role he plays, maybe because of his Gaelic football background, he's actually quite cultured really.

The thing is, presumably because of that same background, he seems to have got it into his head(ers) that this area is also a worthwhile target.
