He plays the middle centre half role well. It's like he was made for the centre point of a back three

My assessent of Egan when he joined. "Reads the game well, strong in the tackle, pretty quick and good in the air. Exellent range of passing. Expect him to play in the middle of the back three". The most important aspect of playing in the middle of our back three is how well you read the game. Brentford fans are clueless and have had their pants pulled down. He's conservatively worth double what we paid for him, and will only get better.

He was exceptional in hte first half, and I was gutted to see him go off at half time. Fair play to Stearman too, who stepped in perfectly.

But Brentford are fantastic. I read it on here when people were falling over themselves to cap-doff them. Excruciatingly embarrassing it was.

Then it became WBA and Bristol City. The Bladey quest for inferiority is relentless.

Now now gaffer, calm down, there's no need for this, there are far bigger wars to be waged in football...Gary Lineker ffs.

Big fan of both Egan and O'Connell. Don't really know ( or care) why it didn't work out for them at Brentford, just glad that they are at the lane now.

I know it’s bad isn’t it?

It’s like when someone confidently predicted Billy Sharp wouldn’t score ten more goals for us.

People and their opinions.. tut.

Increasingly as the season's gone on, he's been making more interceptions, cutting out more crosses, anticipating things with real composure to show he has an excellent footballing brain as well as being the robust stopper that we always knew he was.

The middle role can make a player look great if he's comfortable playing there, but I've now seen more than enough examples of quality defensive play where his central role in the 3 is irrelevant - because they're individual moments where it's nothing to do with having support either side of him.

On top of all that he's been getting better with the ball at his feet all season.

How our defence has grown as a unit is fantastic, and Egan and Henderson have a hell of a lot to do with it. They're the step up we needed and the result is clear to see.

Don't know why Donald Trump doesn't put a bid in for him. He'd save a fortune in bricks.Egan would keep out those pesky Mexicans.

John Egan is Irish, they're not too keen on borders. :D

Great signing, he's settled in and is dominant in the centre of defence. Hopefully it's nothing too serious that stopped him coming out for the second half.

"If your goal is mid/lower-mid table safety, he’s a great addition. He’s perfect for SU.

That isn’t who we are aspiring to be in 2018-2019. Great business."

A Brentford fan at the start of the season.
