Played for Bristol City briefly when they were last in the Championship but found his level in the lower divisions.

Unconvinced that we would need or want him frankly.

He scored a couple yesterday I think, looking at his career stats though and seeing that he can't stay at a club for too long, nor has he played at a decent standard at 26 years old I think we ought to give this one a miss. Although I really know fuck all about him truth be known :)

I remember ebbsfleet signing, or selling him (can't remember which) after members of myfootballclub.co.UK voted in favour of the deal - anyone remember/was a member of that?

This Twitter page also mentions Norwich being interested in signing John Terry! if that gives any indication on the reliability of the rumours.

English powerhouse of a striker that plays for Barnet FC, he scored 37 goals last season and 33 goals the season before so he is most definitely a proven goal scorer with great pace and strength. People might be thinking we dont need a new striker now Sparky is back but we lack height up front and i believe we need a powerhouse up front that is going to frighten defenders so he could be the perfect guy if we sign him.

23 last season, 31 the season before.

Powerful, on the up, confident and black.

Wins a lot of penalties.

Has quite a low release clause in his contract.

Would undoubtedly be a much better option alongside Sharp than anything we had last season. He'd wear defenders down, get to lost causes and give us an outlet over the top. As a bonus he could even score 20+ goals again.

Definitely a small risk worth taking for me.

Where do you get info like this Herby... "Has quite a low release clause in his contract"

I really would be excited if we got JA,watched his video's,you know who he reminds of .........Antonio.

I read it somewhere not long ago and it would make sense because his deal was due to expire this summer but he signed a new one without much hesitation in January.

I would rather have Akinde than Hanson....CW usually signs players like Akinde so is possible unless he is under contract

This is the sort of signing we should be going for.

Although his name sounds like Adkins.

Genuine question as this is the 2nd, or maybe 3rd time you have done it, by why do you say "hes black" as one of the reasons we should sign him? I do not get the correlation at all?

It's mainly just a long running joke. So keep your pants on.

Believe he wants to move to Millwall...probably wants to stay in/around London.

It's not very politically correct, but people of different races do generally have different physical characteristics. One example being the best long distance runners in the world hail from Kenya and Ethiopia, this is due to hunting methods in the region for hundreds of years. (Nowadays there are also economic incentives as well)

Based on his name and appearance it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest that John Akinde is from North West Africa, where, fortunately for him a lot of natural athletes are produced.

Being black isn't a reason in itself for signing somebody, but when you think of some of the best athletes in the English game a disproportionate amount are black. I'm talking Bolasie, Jeff Schlupp and Moussa Sissoko to name a few.

It is a long running joke, although I remember Woodwardfan claiming they were tougher and harder too.
It's a bit old hat though to say we need some black guys in the team because we haven't got any pace.

Nearly spat me coffee out here!

What on earth has hunting got to do with running 26 miles? You'd run past your fucking dinner.

Many poor African nations have excelled at running events simply because it's the one sport you can train for with absolutely no equipment whatsoever. If Britain was a skint developing country who couldn't afford a great deal of training equipment or facilities, we'd be well up there too. It has absolutely nothing to do with race.

Yes, they are the economic reasons for poorer African countries that I eluded to in my 1st post. Which is a valid point, but if that was the sole reason you might expect poor nations around the world to produce the same quality of runner though, which doesn't happen. There are plenty of poor regions in Asia or South America that don't produce any.

This is because for hundreds/thousands of years tribes in the region such as the Kalenjin have been sourcing there food using persistance hunting, a method of hunting where you literally stalk your prey until it's too exhausted to flee or defend it's self. This means if you were a poor long distance runner there's a good chance you wouldn't get fed, promoting characteristics such as thin ankles and calves.

Also pretty sure it's not just a massive coincidence that all the best sprinters are black!

Th
Maybe it also has something to do with the will to succeed at a young age.
Dedication coupled with ability with no distractions.

Yes, another factor, but again dedication and no distractions aren't a condition exclusive to Kenya or Ethiopia.

The Boston Marathon since 2002 has only been won by Kenyans or Ethiopians except for one year (2014).

In 2014, it was won by an American, Meb Keflezighi. Interesting to note he was a Eritrean refugee who moved to the U.S at a young age, so despite living the lifestyle of an American for most of his life, his genetics still played an important part in his success.

Type of signing we'd all love, probably over Hanson too, but Hanson is a safer bet too. I'd be happy with either to be honest!

There is something specific to do with a makeup of leg muscles, East Africans have skinny calves or something. Relevant to sprinters and marathon runners, not so much in team sports.

This Akinde lad used to play for Ebbsfleet town and was sold to Bristol City by committee of several thousand members of MyFC who owned the club, which I assume was a first in football.
