Although he won't be playing today, I thought it worth a mention about Tranmere's 24-year-old midfielder Joe Thompson. Not too long ago Joe was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphona to be precise). Just imagine being told at any time in your life that you have cancer, but this guy is 24, the prime of his life, he has a girlfriend and a 15-month-old daughter, and he's staring cancer in the face.
It will be worth sparing a thought for Joe when Tranmere run out onto the pitch today. Some things put everything into perspective, and this is probably at the top of that list. I'm sure we all wish Joe the best in beating his illness, and I look forward to hearing that he's back playing for Rovers at some future point.
