Soumare is athletic and gets us moving but just very clumsy at tackling. Which if he improved on that aspect of his game it would make him decent at this level.

His fitness levels are miles off , he hardly got any game time in Scotland & it shows . He shouldn’t be anywhere near the team or bench in his current state , a poor Jan signing as he’s gonna contribute fuck all between now & May .

So we’re in full agreement. Physicality, availability and character are the basics. Skill and ability is worthless without those foundations.

I’m not denying he’s been awful. But he’s exposed in the way we play, with Leeds last season he played as two sitters. Their role was to sit deep and mainly hold their position, with us players are everywhere and he’s massively exposed

These mythical pre seasons needed for Arblaster, Rothwell etc are going to have to be like Rocky 4 when Stallone trains in the Russian mountains. I am not sure either can run. That does not change in a month (pre season is 4 weeks) of more running!

It also implies that someone that’s just missed three games and a two week international break hasn’t done any running in that time either.

Given the state we normally start August in anyone banking on these players looking inv good after the summer is in for a shock.
