Live up in Leeds and the LUFC fans I know rate him as a very good player at this level. A Fleck type who will drive forward. I understand Rangers played him as a deep lying midfielder which isn’t his game.

Well done the Board for backing Wilder. Up until now there's been a clear feeling of being underwhelmed at the Board's apparent inability to act, but these two signings show there's a resolve to push the team forward. I'm normally stoic and hard to impress but these two signings are, I hope, going to act as a catalyst as we climb the table.......all said with a clearly defined 'let's wait and see' hopefulness.

Agree…we are so well stacked…..it’s all abit weird.

We now have enough high quality midfielders to play in 2 teams.
Even if half the midfield are out injured…..we can still put out a really strong midfield.

So according to the Roygbiv view from Rangers, Rothwell is really, really out of shape. I for one am excited by seeing a midfield of Phillips, Rothwell and Gus and it being like a skilful, well paid version of fat lads in Sunday League

The way I see it, when everyone is fit (I am excluding Davies and Shackleton from this, as they cannot be relied upon to stay fit)

Riedeweld, Soumare and Phillips are the CDM options

Peck, Blaster and Rothwell are the box to box options.

6 into 2 may seem like a lot. However Blaster is still getting up to speed and I think he will be used sparingly for the rest of this season. Soumare is a rough diamond and Phillips has barely played recently, so will take a while to get going.

This also gives us the option of playing a solid midfield 3 when needed. Before today we had limited options with injuries etc.

The season has been over for months. Next season is almost certainly going to be mid table consolidation given the change in parachute payment amounts. There is fuck all point in signing someone of his age for that length of deal when the status of the club means anything he does on the pitch is going to be utterly worthless. Invest the money in players with room to grow and upside instead. This last 12 hours has probably done more damage to the club than the entire summer window

It's obviously valid to want us to sign young players for the future and plan for next season, but that last sentence is just mental.

Like Phillips and Bamford, Rothwell should be another decent signing to keep us solid in midfield. Wilder definitely strengthened the midfield with Davies and Riedewald both out currently, Peck having had a few weeks out and Blaster just returning from a long lay off, he's played smart.

very very good signing been there and done it at this level i dont care what rangers fans think of him what do scottish fans know about football anyway positive midfielder always looking for the forward pass and can carry the ball through midfield it will also give us a chance to ease arblaster back in from the bench it hasnt helped his progress having to be thrown in to the starting 11 far too early

I watch a lot of Leeds matches with wife being a supporter and Rothwell was one of their better players. A lot of Leeds fans wanted to keep him. Good going forward and commanding in midfield to me a direct replacement for a good Tom Davies. Also has a wicked shot from free kicks Hamer style. We are turning into Leeds United 2nd team.

I agree, this season is more than likely a write off and parachute payments will end. But Wilder has got united promoted without parachute payments previously. Good signing and adding to next season's prepared squad.
