Before radios, people could only communicate quickly over long distances by using the telegraph. That was a system of cables or “wires” that connected different places, similar to telephone wires. Sadly, since we discovered that radios cause Covid, we’ve gone back to putting tiny people in radios to do the voices.

I’m not sure if this is a euphemism or a holiday boast. I’ll assume the latter. Last time I hung my Blades shirt on a hotel balcony it blew off whilst I was out, onto the road. Fortunately a cleaner found it and they put it behind reception. It was the plain white (with red pinstripes), without sponsor so I couldn’t have replaced it.

They used to hang the duck from a washing line to dry out after roasting back of Bamboo garden.
Trouble was the teams of ninja squirrels in trees on boundary of mums flat and hutcliffe wood graveyard used to
raid the washing line for a duck feast and make off with enough so the portions given to punters had to be on the small side.

That may explain a quarter duck when a half portion was required.
