I think he now goes under the radar because of how consistently superb he is and it deserves mentioning.

I’m running out of superlatives. At his best defensively today against a quick forward line he pretty much negated that right side along with Stevens and Fleck. Great aerially, rarely beaten for pace, strong as an ox, good on the ball, even a decent dribbler we saw late in the second half :D He hasn’t got many weaknesses has he? If he has the 3 centre back unit certainly disguises them.

We have to face facts now - there are minimum 5/6 of our team that are already Premier League ready. JOC is the very top of that list. I actually think Stevens is next up due to a lack of good left backs and the amount he’s kicked on. Then Fleck even though he’s had a quiet season by his standards, Egan and Norwood. Remains to be seen with the others but they’re likely to prove us wrong (again).

Our resolve will be tested for this bunch and if we don’t go up and have to cash in on JOC - what a ride it’s been. Best centre half since Harry (dare I say he’s better than Harry was for us) and an absolute joy to watch every week.

Let’s just enjoy these lads while we can. What will be will be. If we go up there’s no doubt we’ll be able to keep them all - so here’s hoping!

He's a good defender but like Fleck he's not outstanding at the top end of the championship.

You are not fooling us Jack. ;)

I would like to know the name of any left sided Centre back at this level with the pace, tackling and ability to get around the pitch that JOC has. I’ve seen all the sides now and I can’t think of one.

Have you looked? I love JOC but you guys are proper fanboys with the attack.

Early in the game his mis-placed passes were not a joy to watch , however second half he was great

Yeah I agree, in fact he was all over the place for the first 15 minutes today.

BUT, what a consistently brilliant, solid player we have in him. Can't see him being here beyond the summer if we don't go up though, or at least come close enough to convince him to give it one more go.

We don’t need to look. Honestly, he is the very best on the market at this level. No one else comes close. He’s perfect for our system and replacing him would cost us 8 figures.

Not saying you are wrong bad buy, he's just not as good as you make out. He's a key player, strong and reliable that's all. Bash for me is better on the other side.

He’s no where near the best centre back in this division, think he;d be quite ordinary in a 2 centre back system.
However agree that in a 3 he’s probably the best centre back for our system.

Bet Jack could never imagine that as a central defender he’d be encouraged to get up field overlapping the wingbacks and whipping in crosses, seems a crazy idea and impossible to implement but it works.

Sorry, he certainly is. Name me 5 better centre halves in this division.

I’ll give you Jansson.

Can I let you all in to a secret?

He’s magic.

I was speaking to a knowledgable Blade the other week who knows a lot about coaching.

He told me that Basham isn’t good enough to play as a central defender at Championship level.
He was also adamant that Basham wasn’t good enough to play in midfield at this level either.

So what does Wilder do about someone that’s not quite good enough?
He creates this role perfectly suited to Bashams strengths. As he’s not the best central defender he puts Bash in a 3 central defenders situation so he has plenty of help and cover. He knows Bash has a great engine so encourages him to be a spare man going forward.
So Bash tends not to get picked up when he’s supporting Baldock on the right wing.

The end result is that Basham plays his role brilliantly.

I'll give you 2 more, Basham & Egan. Only 2 more to find.

Is this your attempt at Pokemon go?

100 hundred games and 9 yellow cards - quality control consistent Will be a blades legend

Left sided, pace, tackling,

Name please?

Oh please. I have not said JOC is easily replacable, just said he's not as the O/P says. He's a legend no matter what, a Morgan type of player, all heart but with limitation. Is there anything wrong with that? For the record I think Bash on the other side is better.

He is nothing like a Morgan type player. That is an utterly ridiculous statement.
