It is too early to say which way he will go. He certainly has the attributes to carve a very successful career in the game.
At the moment he is still raw and in the few spells that he had since coming back from his loan spell, tended to let the game pass him by. He didn't have much tempo about his play and was for the most part, a spectator.
Hopefully, working with someone like Billy will help him improve his overall game and he will get better.
As some have said earlier though, I am more excited about the prospect of Will Osula at the moment. He looks to have more about him in the few parts that he played. Seems stronger and more equipped to press the opposition and looks to have the strength to go at defenders and give them a tough time.
Hopefully both will develop and prosper with the Blades.

I dont think we should loan back to L1. He's proven over a 6 month period that he could cut it at that level. I don't see what the point would be in loaning him back there.
Did he prove himself?
I think League one is exactly where he needs to be because we recalled him early. He’s going to turn 19 in August and a full season holding down a starting place and scoring goals will do him the world of good.
I’d personally look to send both him and Osula out on loan if we have the option. Unless someone is an incredible talented we really shouldn’t be looking to any of our under 20s this season and using the lower leagues to help him progress.
What the responses in this thread do show is how quickly opinions change. Last year those in charge were being pillared for probably accepting the bid from Everton. They were criticised for sending him to Burton and again in In January for not bringing him back when he clearly wasn’t ready for what we needed him for.
Now some would consider the £5m bid and he’s being compared to Slew. Last season he was the second coming of Deane.
See also Coulibaly. £10M from Milan had to be turned down to show ambition. Now most would rip their hands off but I doubt it’s still on offer.

You're correct on Jebbo, a season in league 1 should help him immensely. I don't think he'd get a loan to a championship team or if he did, he'd get limited game time.
Osula however looks good enough to challenge, so I'd keep him with a view to loaning out in January if it's not working out.

I can’t see Jebbo being prepared to go out on loan again whilst he’s with us. He could sign for Everton, get a big pay rise and still go out on loan. All we can really offer at this stage is the opportunity to play in the first team. Give him that and he might sign a new contract. Otherwise, negotiate the best deal we can and sell him.

If we’re going down the develop youth route, we have to make sure the kids are on long contracts before we send them out on loan, play them in the first team or they start getting international youth call ups because any of those situations is a shop window and the big clubs will just swoop and take them from us. I can see a situation where we end up losing all our youth players before we’ve developed them enough to get decent money for them, because we’re scared we might offer them a decent wage and they turn out to be crap.

If it can be reinvested, I'd sell him.
It would need to be a decent offer of £6m+ with add ons and a 20% sell on.
Similar to League 1, it was disappointing to lose Che Adams, Aaron Ramsdale, Dominic Calvert Lewin etc. but the money was needed and it got us to where we needed to go.

Moreover and truth be told, I don't rate what I've seen of him. He hasn't had an impact off the bench in any game. His touch looks off and he's a long way off it physically.
Osula looks the bigger prospect.

Loads of people were excited about Jebbo when he was breaking through because he was so unexposed and clearly talented and as the old adage goes...

"no player is better than a youth teamer not getting picked"

12 months on, he's bagged 7 in 20 for a League One side who rarely create much...and now people are clamouring for him to be sold so that Osula (no senior goals at any level, and about 15/20mins of Championship football) can become the next Mbappe.

Makes your head spin!

Can't wait for next season when Osula has scored 10 in 20 for Rotherham and we're desperate to sell him for 20p and a hubcap, just so we can give minutes to Lankshear, or Smith, or Ayari...and slate them for being shite at 20 years old...repeat the process and we can all be happy being miserable Blades for another year.

Same with DCL, same with Tyler Smith, same old same old.

Granted, Tyler has looked terrible at Hull so far, so maybe we dodged a bullet there.

Give the lad a chance, he's obviously got the potential to play at a very high level or else there wouldn't be all this interest in him and Jimmy Floyd (who knows a thing or two about strikers, y'know) wouldn't have spoken so highly of him.

Would be happy to see him starting alongside Brewster next season

All depends on fee.
He's so far not done much for us. But that doesn't mean he won't.
£2.5-5m fee plus good sell on? I'd entertain it potentially.

I doubt that £10m was ever on offer.
My comment was on the quotes and comments at the time not from if the bids and offers were genuinely there to be accepted.
You know, like we could have signed Darwin Nunez but didn't due to lack of ambition. It's clearly bollocks but still, it doesn't stop 'em.

At least with Tyler there was a larger body of work there with him having quite a few loans out to men’s football and he was in his 20’s and at the point where you’re not really an academy kid anymore and need to go and forge a career here or elsewhere. Jebbo is still 18 going on 19 with one loan under his belt.

18 year old kid scores 1 in 2 (ish) and wins 2 player of the month awards in L1 and people think "nah, Osula is better" based on a couple of 10 minute cameos? So let's sell Jebbo based on him not having a great time in the very few minutes he saw under Heckingbottom?

We're an odd bunch

Crazy posts on here, same people bemoaning when we sold DCL, very similar situation, he needs to be in the squad this season, he’s proved he’s good enough in L1.

With Mcburnie, sharp, Brewster, jebbison and Osula do we need another striker, if so what type?

I said the same about DCL.

The thing that Everton did with Dom is they both IDENTIFIED that potential AND DEVELOPED that potential.
I remember this board seemed full of offers to drive him to Liverpool when he was being sold for £1,000,000. Likewise thousands were going to sell their season ticket and never return to Bramall Lane when Jordan Slew was sold to Blackburn.

The powers that be see these players week after week. Generally speaking they know what they are doing. (and then it can get screwed up by injuries).
