This morning you were saying that we have nobody with a pedigree of scoring goals in the prem and said our finishing isn't good enough.

Now you're recommending Bowen, who would cost north of 20m, doesn't have a pedigree of scoring goals in the Prem and is record is no better than two we bought from the Championship who you're slating.

Could we fit benrahama in our side ? Number 10 perhaps or one of the flat three

If anything he'd be in the front 2 but I don't think that would be the best fit for him. One of 3 attackers would be better but we've abandoned that.

Same probably applies with Bowen which is why I'd make Watkins the best option of the 3.

He was superb Sunday v Dingles, looked to have a free role and was quality with every touch. He is a top, top player and we should try to get him in January.

#awaiting no bid bees to swarm over this

Love bowen but i cannot for the life of me see us investing in this area when we have already spent 40m alone on attacking players this season

first and foremost we need defenders. We are one injury from a crisis, and then we definitely wont be moaning abour poor finishing, in fact we could be moaning about losing to cricket scores against the top 6.

two solid replacements for lcb/rcb positions, maybe someone to step in for norwood... thats the only areas i see us investing in in january

As long as we didn't blow the budget, Bowen would be a fabulous signing. Someone is going to spend big on him very soon, and I'm convinced he could do it in the premier League.

Agree with your last sentence. Where would you play him in our system? And instead of who?

Only position I can think of is McGoldrick's long term replacement perhaps?

It's a squad game bud, until you become irreplaceable that is.

He just scored again by the way, commentator talking about £25m value.

True. But we play a very specific way. Wingers don't fit the mould. For the kind of cash it would take to prise him out of Hull (£30m+) I'm not sure he'd be a great fit for us. Superb player nonetheless, whom I think will have a great career in the Prem regardless.

Could he be one to play the "McGoldrick role"?

Watched their game v Boro at the weekend and he strikes me as perfect for Didzys long term replacement.

Not an out and out striker but was great dropping off into space and either playing in team mates or running at the defenders.

Think the issue may be that the price in the summer was rumoured to be up towards the £20 million mark and he's gone up another level since then. Think you'd be talking £25 million plus now.

Just can't see us spending that on 1 player in the JTW unless they were absolutely nailed on to come in as a certain starter.

Cheers for that. From afar I've suspected he could be a good one for it, but I hadn't watched him enough.

Wilder and the Prince have collectively made noises around quality over quantity, which makes me think they'd spend big if the player was right. And Bowen seems like such a natural fit for us that it'd justify the fee. He wouldn't immediately step into the side, but we'd need rotation to keep legs fresh, particularly as we're very reliant on Didsy at the moment. So I imagine he'd get quite a few appearances under his belt this season ahead of a greater role next season. From everything I've seen and read, he'd make a brilliant signing and exactly the type we should go for if we want to keep pushing on.

Is he quick? I can't remember ever having been impressed by him when I've seen him against us but I was unimpressed with Freeman apart from the odd game against us as well and he seems decent.

Totally agree and if CW wants him and The Prince agrees to finance it then he'd be an amazing signing IMO.

I said on the substitutions thread i made that we now look like we have found our ideal 1st 11 and way of playing. Any signings now need to be as close as is physically possible to the player they would replace ie Pace/Power for Mousse and trickery/guile for Didzy.

Bowen would be an excellent start to that process 👍

He's not Mousset quick but certainly not slow. I wasn't that impressed with him last year when he played against us and wondered what all the fuss was about but have seen him 2 or 3 times now this season where i've not been concentrating on us and he looks fantastic.

Like Didzy but with more goals in him.

Of all the players remotely within our price range / wages structure he would be my no. 1 choice .

For me that's a key point you're making. I really couldn't care less what transfer fee someone costs but they have to fit in with our wage structure as the harmony in the team is one of our biggest assets and i would hate that to be compromised by potentially bringing someone in on a far higher wage than the rest of the team are on.

It goes without saying our wage bill will increase significantly the more time we spend in The Prem but IMO this has to be gradual and in line with our other best players.

That's why i would prefer to probably overpay slightly on the fee for someone like Bowen who would come in on a similar wage to our best players than spend less on a transfer fee from say an experienced Prem player who is going to command far higher wages.

I still think until we fully establish ourselves we will look to pick up the best from the championship as their wages are more reasonable.

Me too. I didn’t see last night as I was watching champions league. But I watched the Boro game with my cynical ‘he’s a winger’ head on. He did look pretty comfortable taking up central positions.
I don’t think any player is signed as a nailed on certain starter under CW, they have to prove themselves, but if he can do what Didz does AND score goals then he’d be starting.

Make no mistake, this lad will only get better and better as he matures.

He will be a top class player for someone. We should push the boat out if necessary to make sure we are the club who benefits.

He should be our number 1 target.
