If Wilder can pick his best 11 every game we are going to be bang there, but realistically he's going to have to rest players here and there. The problem is the strength in depth, Forest & QPR were games where that has been evident. So moving on to January we need to bring 3 or 4 players capable of the first team, not just OK for back up. For me we need:

1 GK (not sold on Moore or Jamal)
1 x WB (Injuries leave us thin, Basham not a WB)
1 x CM (When Fleck/Coutts are missing so is our midfield)
1 x CF (Apart from Leon & Billy we are weak)

Personally, if there's ever a time to be looking for a bit of quality over quantity, this might be it. The promised land is beckoning and under CW and AK anything at the moment seems possible

It's not for me to be questioning our recruitment policy, but a statement of intent by bringing in what we would term a bit of quality and at the same time showing the supporters and anyone else who cares to take notice, we aren't here just to make the numbers up

midfielder
striker
dare I say it, but we seem to be having some bad luck at RB with both KF and GB. Will that continue? Hope not but could cost us. Don't think Bash is the answer when both are out.

Perhaps this time around, our league position may make us a more attractive proposition to any potential CW targets

Don't think we need another GK personally, and I don't think Wilder will be in for one.

Wingback, perhaps someone that can play either side. Kyle Naughton out of contract soon?

Agree on the midfielder. I think we need to sign someone on Fleck/Coutts level with a view to replacing one of them. Then it's up to the new signing to get into the team and keep Coutts or Fleck out. Love them both but it's the only way we'll get proper strength in depth there.

Striker is going to be a difficult one to recruit for. I'd be happy with Sharp, Clarke, Donaldson, Brooks and one more. It could be Ched if he gets fit he'd be like a new signing.

I don't want us to change too much, but if you see what Huddersfield did in January, buying that left back for 2.5 million and a couple more pieces of the jigsaw I reckon that's the route we'll go down.

Wouldn't mind seeing a wing-back come in on loan. We do have two quality players on each side and we've been unlucky with injuries in the RWB slot so not sure we need someone in permanently. Maybe some Premier League teams have taken notice of the success of Blackman and CCV and will be keen to send a good young'un our way.

A striker. Leon, Billy, and Brooksy are all great options. Not convinced Donaldson, Lavery, or Evans will ever be good enough. Evans probably has the natural ability to excel at this level but it's far from clear he'll ever get it back after such a long lay off, almost certainly not in time for a promotion or play-offs push in the second half of this season. I'd love to see someone young and pacy, maybe Devante Cole.

Or maybe some PL clubs will come looking to bid for the loan players?

I don’t know why people fret on here apart from about 2-3 players all our signings have been good. Stearman/Evans yet to prove themselves this year.

What’s happened to that Scottish defender we signed btw?

I would like a real top class goalkeeper but I don't think it's the time to bring one in.

We could do with extra cover at RWB because Freeman picks up knocks and Baldock's calf and hamstrings seem susceptible. Ideally someone who could also play as a winger.

A central midfielder on loan would make sense.

Whether we should sign a striker or not largely depends on what happens between now and then. Although Devante Cole is a tempting player to sign on the cheap regardless.

It's a good position for us to be in but Wilder has hard choices to make.

Oztumer, Leonard, Cole and Moult, wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of them. Then again knowing CW it will be someone nobody was thinking about and no doubt he will quality.

My preference would be to try and sign the best young players in the lower divisions. Pick up a couple of those.

I agree Rodders. Better than old has beens on the way down.

There could also be some talent in the reserves of a few top clubs, waiting for a chance to make a start somewhere new and with little opportunity.

We need speed in defence that is how we've been exposed and if we can pick up a quality striker for our usual 300k that would be good too. Not Cole.

Need a striker with pace who can create his own chances.
Need a wide player with pace who can get beyond players and enable us to hit teams on the break.
These positions are vital anything else will be dependent upon injuries etc accumulated up to January and the purchase of good young talent from the lower leagues.
Happy with keepers and wing backs, centre midfield may be a problem but we do have the holy trinity with cover provided by Carruthers and Lundstram and I do expect Whiteman to come back to us.

I think a bid for Marvin Sordell would be worth considering. Pacy, playing at this level already, not too far location wise, promotion pushing team > relegation scrap.

For me one of the main questions is whether we look to bring in players as direct competition for who we already have, or for players who may not directly fit into our current system, but offer something different. Cover for Fleck would be excellent, though tricky to find.

Someone like Jaime Murphy - doesn't have to be him but of his type- might seem like a strange signing, but could actually be useful as a way to unlock stubborn defences.

Other than that- young PL prospects in CM and CF would be welcome. Our record of playing them (Blackman and CCV) is good so we may get some generous opportunities from top flight clubs who want to blood their youngsters.

Or, dare i say it, we look to bring in some young foreign talent up front

was speaking to my dad about whiteman we didn't allow Donny to use him in the fa cup but we let them use him in the league cup, a possible recall in January maybe

Donaldson's weak now then?

He only got 2 goals in the Sunderland game, Leon got 4 in his last game, keep up. Plus when Leon got injured he scored another 3, Donaldson just came off and didn't bother playing for a few weeks. We need robots not humans as centre forwards.

Donaldson was poor at QPR, and didn't have the excuse this time of coming back from injury. I have seen this explained as being because their pitch is too small....ahem. Someone a bit quicker, willing to hold the ball up when needed (which Donaldson singularly failed to do at Loftus Rd) as cover for the all-star front two would be a good investment particularly if we can offload Hanson this time.

We also need cover for Fleck: for reasons discussed extensively in recent days, neither Carruthers or Lundstram is a like-for-like replacement.

1 quality midfielder and a quality striker would be enough IMO. Our biggest test will be keeping hold of what we have. If we manage to get through January without selling anyone I would be delighted.

Sounds like Jaime Murphy will be returning to the Lane in January (sources claim anyway). Not sure where he would fit in to be honest. He's not a goal scorer when played upfront and we don't play with wingers so his favoured left wing position would only be when we go to Plan B. I can't imagine he'd be happy leaving the Brighton bench for the Blades bench.
