Convinced we need another CB after today. Ben Mee has had a great career but he looked 36 today.
Not disagreeing he looked 36 and didn’t have the best of games but it is another one where the CB pairing is with Mcguinness and not helped by the others. I am starting to think is he having to cover too much because of positional mistakes with Mcguinness as when he has been paired with Tanganga they looked solid.

mcguinness is just awful mee looks so much better alongside tanganga

If the Board are ambitious to right the omnishambles that was the summer then they need to face some hard truths.

Mee and McGuinness are no more than insurance to ensure we don’t run out of centre halves but the former’s legs are on the brink of going and the latter is only with us because he’s played for 2 clubs and we can’t bin him off.

We basically have Tanganga and Bindon. Souttar is out. We need another first choice centre half to ensure the standard doesn’t drop if we have an injury or need to rotate.

If we can’t play Riedewald and Peck together the midfield is going to be worse. Arblaster, after so long out will be another 2 months to get up to speed. Soumaré has some promise but isn’t reliable. We can’t expect anything from Davies. So we need a midfielder who isn’t shit. Maybe that’s Rothwell?

If there is a chance to offload Danny Ings we need to take it and get another forward in or give consideration to keeping Oné around. Ings is clinging onto his career like he’s clinging onto his hair, both with increasing futility!

We should have tried Faxon the other day to see if he was our Pierce Charles. Adam Davies won’t be a Championship keeper while he’s got a hole in his arse. Cooper needs to get operated on to fix his general level of crapness this season.

The brutal truth is if we want to continue the league momentum we should be getting:

1 x GK
1 x CB
1 x CM
1 x CF

There’s almost a dozen we could get rid of at the same time.

Said it on the Ings thread, there isn't anyone that will take Ings although not necessarily disagreeing, it's the case of he has only got 5 months left on his current deal. I will happily say based on what I have seen from One he is not Championship standard yet although he is still young enough to get there. We need some different "outs" Ings is solely there to do the "dirty minutes" and cover to allow players to rest. He can still do a job. One needs minutes, personally the Rotherham rumour would be ideal or the fact he didn't play yesterday, Mansfield wouldn't be a bad option either on loan until the end of the season (ideally he should have been out on loan from the start). We need cover at GK even if it's a temp signing to allow Faxon out on loan too. Zätterström needs minutes too. Soumare might have promise but isn't our player and I doubt he would have ticked any boxed to allow as such (highly doubtful for promotion which was the promise), Matos is so our future is on Riedewald extending, Arblaster and Matos.

Cant disagree with any of that, spot on.

I was disappointed to see faxton not given a go, instead he put davies in net. We need to let go once contract runs out and bring in someone in the summer (if we cant get anyone now).

I was also a tad disappointed that Zätterström wasnt given a chance either, he must not be pulling up any trees in training, if he cant get in ahead of mcguiness then theres no hope for him.

Ing & Mees legs seemed to have gone, and both smacked as panic singings.

I for one can't believe that Selles refused a free Mcburnie in favour of Ings.

Maybe Zatterstrom is because he has already played in Sweden. If he plays for us then we probably deny him a chance to go on loan?

I honestly don't think Selles had input with the transfers, and if he did, then the only players he did were Barry and Bindon. I remember the numerous interviews in the summer where he said they were targeting loans and frees, to the point where the owners I believe were trying to avoid spending the money they got for Anel and Vini, and just get away with the bare minimum in the summer, until the last 10 days of the window where they realised that they would have had a revolt if nothing was done, and then decided to go the opposite way with getting anybody and everybody they could!!

Make that at least 2....did u see Mee and McGuiness against first division forwards yesterday ?
I would say that's because Wilder hadn't learned his lesson of playing Mee and McGuiness as a central pair. Play 2 flat footed CB's together and you get done down the sides the majority of the time.
However both players have looked good alongside Tanganga in recent months.

The problem is Champers who's going to want that dozen or so, sadly we will be lucky to get them off the payroll if they were all free transfers.

I think bettis had come out and already saod that mcburnie was offered to him. Which he refused and didn't want to sign him.

Just think the club wasn't prepared to offer what Hull were, we clearly offered him a contract, as it was widely reported, instead we were left with Ings

Absolutely ridiculous and inexplicable

No other manager in the championship would have turned down the opportunity

Hilarious we thought we'd get a better CF at a time we weren't spending much

Yet I wonder what we'll have to pay to have Ings for a season? It won't be cheap

Even more ridiculous when we had the money from the Kieffer Moore sale.
It was such an obvious replacement (and upgrade).

Think Bettis said that McB wanted to train with the squad with a view to signing if all went ok but Selles got the final say and he stated that he didnt want him.

Thing is its looking like Bindon is a much better option than either Mee or McGuiness so if one or both of Bindon or Tanganga are out there is a big drop off in quality. We've needed a big hard bastard CB who clears everything out for years and i think they thought McGuiness was the man. He isnt so for me we still need thst type of player and they'd be top of my list of acquisitions now Bamford has signed and we've brought the right back in.

We turned down his request to train with us, so he thought sod it.
This part is understandable really. He fucked us about before signing for Las Palmas so I can’t imagine the club were particularly interested in offering him resources before he turned us down again.

I assume both times we offered contracts we thought appropriate for someone with his poor goal scoring record and even poorer availability record.

I wouldn’t trust Bettis as far as I could throw him. He’s even worse than Wilder for blaming anyone except himself.
