Still struggling and that's not me being harsh but we never landed a punch.
I think when we look back at Liverpool Home (i know it wasn't January) and away and the two Man City games, we were holding them off at arms length for long periods, in itself this is more than many teams have done. So firstly we're not out of our depth.
We also rode our luck in every game and had some bad luck.
Did we land a punch? Reality is we didn't not because we didn't create anything and put them on the back foot. We had chances against all them all, some chances better than others and i think we end up with lots of ifs and maybes.
We opened Man City up on fewer occasions at home than we did away.
We opened Liverpool up on more at home.
There is a gulf in class between the top two and the rest of the league. Leicester and Arsenal (away) perhaps showed us glimpses too when we played them, but i can't remember anyone else carving us apart. Man U had a mad few moments.
Zero Points, Zero Goals scored and 6 goals conceded in 4 games against these two!
Average goals conceded against Liv/ Man C - 1.5 Goals per game
Season Average conceded without those 4 games - 0.71 Goals per game
Season Average all games - 0.96 Goals per game
Despite conceding more than the season average, what we have probably learnt against Liverpool and City is that we're so hard to break open, but more importantly that also comes at a cost, we have much less possession, create less and when we have (half) chances, we don't take them.
I'm glad we don't have to play these two again. I don't fear anyone else the same as i do these two and you can see why they are the top two sides in the country
