Jamie Ward has been released by Derby, so my Rams supporting colleague tells me. Apparently Clough loved him. So he's available, JCR is out of favour, my Rams supporting mate told me Wardy loved scoring against the piggies more than anyone else, so he's still a Blade at heart. So if Clough can convince him to drop a division (like Brayford) Jamie may be coming back. I haven't heard if anyone else is in for him. I presume Jamie would want Championship football if anyone offered it.

The two teams he's probably least advised to sign for. Him and his half a handstring.

I think this is more hope than rumour.

Would love Jamie Ward back at the lane. Was disappointed when he left and (other than injuries) he's improved a lot since he left

Him and Murphy on the wings would frighten the shit out of teams.

But sitting on the physio's table he would be about as good as me!

No thanks.

No crocks, thank you very much.

His Derby appearences per season (league apps in brackets) are:

2011-12 - 39 (37)
2012-13 - 26 (25)
2013-14 - 42 (41)
2014-15 - 29 (25)

He's played 70% of their league fixtures over 4 years.

I wouldn't say he's a crock. James Wallace is a crock. He has only ever managed 19 league games in a season. That's his highest tally to date.

He's no James Wallace, but he's had recurrent hamstring trouble (and knee trouble) that's kept him out for significant time for 3 out of the last 6 years. The recurrent thing is the bit that worries me.

We have too many of these "he'll be great if he's fit" players on the books. We do not need any more of them IMHO.

Plus the idea that he's a Blade at heart put forward by the original poster is laughable. He couldn't wait to get away in 2010-11.

You'd have to be very Bladey Bladey indeed to want to play for Quick fix.

Pinchy , what's Cotts up to these days?

Not seen him since just before kick-off at Wembley mate. Oddly, he was with Greg Halford and Brian Howard at the time....

Best of luck to Wardie at Florist .... hopefully he will continue to score against and wind up the scummy, lady-boy, piggy ba**ards for another season, leading to their commencing a record breaking 5 seasons of relegations on the run !!

I'm not sure what you think the word 'unfortunately' means but your definition or your reading of the situation is very different to mine.

My understanding was the fact that he's a decent player that we could have had? Maybe not realistically but he was someone who I would've brought back... Good place for him to go though after being let go from Derby

We've dodged a bullet with this one!

The Derby fans I work with seem disappointed and a bit surprised he was released. They say they've got plenty of players they'd have let go before Ward. It doesn't particularly sound like we've dodged a bullet judging by their opinion.

The only issue would have been his fitness concerns, which, of course, is another story altogether. We don't need another James Wallace on the books. Good players are only useful when they're on the pitch.

Another who is deemed not good enough for us but will have to struggle by on ten times the wages in the division above

He's certainly a talented player, but he's never really had a position and is yet another player that thinks he can do everything on his own - corners, freekicks, shots, crosses. His end product has never quite been there.

Plus his injury record and attitude aren't great

And that's underselling it. Has everyone forgotten his complete meltdown in the Play-Off final and his subsequent disappearing act when things got tough later on?
