He was knackered, same as Vini and Peck, they had tired legs and minds with 20 minutes to go,Peck started giving the ball away,Vini started giving fouls away and we retreated 10 yards enticing Swansea on,good job they were powder puff .

I didn't think Shacks had a good game at all, they seemed to bypass him at will in that first half. He was probably having his best spell of the game when he went off though.

I thought he was pretty tidy on the ball, some nice passes and good movement and hassle. He did tire, but wasn’t the only one

I’m trying my best not to slag him off here, but in every game I’ve seen him I just ask myself what he’s meant to be doing?

I can see why Leeds let him go just another squad filler like McCallum
That’s spot on. He is just squad filler. Which is understandable for where we’re at money-wise, and we do need bodies, but I just don’t get how you can watch that game and think I know what we need, it’s Shackleton in midfield.

Because Peck was having a stinking second half and we have no one else

Shackleton seems like a low-maintenance player whose main trait is to bring stability. Peck was a bit erratic tonight, so bringing on Shackleton for him made sense.

I think in the grand scheme of things Shackleton is the utility guy that can cover several positions, but isn't really good enough to be a starter. It's good to have a player like this, especially with Osborn gone.

I'm hearing that he's had a bit of a mental breakdown hence why we've not seen him for a while.
He's not injured he has had a breakdown. It happened 21/12/2024 the club are hiding it.
If this is the case , should we not be laying off the flippant comments? At least wait for the truth to come out.- if this was on the Mental Health thread he'd be shown some sympathy and understanding

Exactly, I get that the club are trying to protect the player but I think that the love and support of the fans might help him.

Where is he? And what injury is he out with? Wilder doesn’t seem to mention him. I sit near the dug out and I rarely see him at games with the other players either.

Hope the lad is doing ok!

Baffles me that people don’t see the benefit of having a player like Osborn / Shackleton in the squad. A cheap player who’s happy to be in the squad and who’s able to cover 4/5 positions in a push.

No one is claiming he’s a world beater, but with our injury record it was a decent gamble to take.

With no hamer (suspension)
Davies (injury)
Souza ( injury?)
Arblaster (LT injury)

We are currently down to Peck as our our senior (in his first season) midfielder. A player like Osborn would at least be an option for a game or two, before having to blood the likes of blacker (just yet). Obviously the above is moot as he’s injured now - but I can’t knock the signing

Be great if he suddenly appeared to play on Friday night.

I'd actually forgotten about him.

Part of the issue with him is that he’s been injured a lot himself in recent times (even before joining us). So it’s not a real solution to stepping in when others are injured, if the player who’s meant to address this, is likely to be also.

Won't be available for Hull friday night will be a prime dogging night!

Yeah, think this is fair. The best ability is availability.

I’m sure wilder had hoped if he was pegged as a utility man coming on occasionally with the odd start. He’d be fit when needed

Obviously it’s not worked out like that. But I can’t knock the signing at a time when we had about 7 players and no money to spend under the prince.

Yeah true. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but, he had spent most of last season out, unless I’m wrong?

I suppose it’s a fairly low risk signing. How long is his contract? I’d be looking to offload if we go up tbh, but that may be difficult.
