Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie has been linked with a move to Sheffield United.

A national newspaper has reported that Blades boss Kevin Blackwell is ready to bid £700,000 for the Pilgrims' forward.

Mackie, who missed yesterday's game against Nottingham Forest because of a calf injury, has also been linked with moves to Derby County and Middlesbrough.

Rams manager Nigel Clough admitted in January that Mackie was one of his transfer targets but the proposed move failed to materialise.

The 24-year old striker was snapped up from Exeter City for £145,000 in January 2008 and has scored 16 goals from 102 appearances for Argyle with eight goals coming this term.

It seems very doubtful that Mackie will start next season in League One playing for Argyle.

Argyle supporting mates rave about this guy, and I was very impressed by him at the Lane this season. If it goes ahead it will be a really good signing imo.

Wasn't he the mardy twat, who tried to kick everyone after about 20 mins of us frustrating them? Am I imagining it, but wasn't he ginger as well..?

Would be a decent signing but if we're going to spend that sort of money it needs to be on the defence and MONTY'S FUCKING CONTRACT.

Mackie and Pratley are the two best players to play at the lane this season ,he gave Morgan his hardest game of the season.
I would love to see Mackie at the Lane.

Andy gray scored 25 in 56 but he's shit. Stats dont mean everything.

And Hendo had the best goal ratio in the division before being ruled out for 2 months and later being rushed back in. He'd be on 20 now if it wasn't for that initial injury, he was in the form of his career.

And spending 700K on a striker who can't guarantee you goals isn't a good idea considering our financial position and the amount of strikers we already have.

I like Jamie Mackie. He looked decent at the lane and wouldn't be a bad signing but I dont think United will recruit in this area. I dont think they need to either. We should be looking at about 4 defenders and 3 midfielders (including one winger). Attack is the strongest part of our team in terms of strength in depth. We dont need to invest there IMO.

No chance. Warnock would see us rot rather than help McCabe out.

Theres only one Neil Warnock. Neil is God. Come on Neil. We all bought your book. Its the fans you need to help not the directors.

Would be a tremendous signing, but, i really can't see this one coming off.
We'll probably do our usual and bring someone in on saturday afternoon when they've had no chance to train with the other players. That's the Blades way!!

we will get someone in on friday morning, he will score the winner on sunday...... and then never play a decent game afterwards. But will become a legend in the process

They could already be in the squad training DW did the same with McDonald keeping it quiet all week before the match.

He does owe us fans. Got our team relegated from the Premier League (I know he got us there) and in my opinion he helped relegate us last year by pinching Paddy. We would not be playing wendy on Sunday had we had Mr Kenny in goal all last season

I too think that the line was that fine on relegation last year. However, i think that the absence of our captain was the main thing missing. All dept's would have played much better last season had Captain Morgs been marshalling them from the back.
