Long and Wilson I think would be a very good signing for anyone in league one.

Be a cracking league 2 signing imo. Haven’t they also signed frecklington from Rotherham.

He didn’t really do anything wrong for us was just behind 3/4 quality defenders at L1 level.

Good luck to him and his goal was vital as the starting point for it season and getting 100 points

The Jury is still out on Long for me....He has been having a blinder for AFC Wimbledon at times this season, playing every game is bringing him on as a player without a doubt.

Blackman isn't our player and he's just signed a new contract with his parent club...You could also guess that come the end of the season, Chelsea may look look send him elsewhere to get some regular football (If he doesn't get back in for us). This then leaves us looking for another understudy to Moore.

Long has probably done enough so far this season to show himself as adequate cover. I don't know what to think.
Think Jake Eastwood?

Did OK when called upon last season. You could argue that his goal against Oxford kick-started the Wilder revolution. Thought we might give him another chance, but not to be...

Lincoln City have signed former Sheffield United defender James Wilson. #Imps #sufc #TwitterBlades

Hope they get it. Danny Cowley doing a good job over there. Glad the Pigs didn't go for him.
It's a bit early for him. It's only a couple of years since he was a part time manager and full time PE teacher. He's better off staying at Lincoln and gaining some more experience before going into the championship.

He actually comes across locally very similar to Wilder, has a list of targets and refuses to pay over the odds for them. I think another year or 2 at Lincoln and he might be ready to step up to the Championship, has his brother as assistant too

Got a mate who's an Imp. They're over the moon with Wilson. Having a good window tbf, with Wilson and the lad from Rovrum.

Re: The Cowleys/Lincoln , its remarkable the parallels with them and Wilder/United. Honest, hard working, straight talking, relativity small budget and squad, Red & White, punching above their weight by being managed well by someone who tells it like it is and sees the situation like a fan, wants the best for the club, leave the ego at the door. Got a lot of time for them and The Imps so I'm chuffed Wilson had found a home there. GLTTL!

I think there is a big difference between Wilder and Cowleys with the football played though. Lincoln is in a big farming area and the game they play is a little agricultural. But that is not to criticise. It works and is effective for them. They will need to adapt as they go up though. Good luck to Lincoln. They have a few idiots but don't we all!

He will do fantastially well for them. A very good player who is far too good for that league.

Always felt he was very unlucky during his time with us. Looked the best defender we had during that tough opening spell then got dropped and subsequently injured at the worst possible time for him as the team kicked on.

Good luck to him anyway. Hope he and Lincoln push on up the leagues.

I remember being at Bolton, our opening game of that season, him and JOC were both new, and both looked good. If anything, Wilson looked better and was not shy at getting stuck in. He will be a great player for them.

Combined wth the Freckilington signing and being only two points off autos as well, definitely worth a few quid to go up.

Finally left Man United after hanging on for years, deluding himself that he'd make the grade, that he was destined to be a Man United player.

Remember when his attitude fucking stunk?!

Gone back to Scotland where fewer people will notice that he's not "James Wilson, Man United loanee" anymore.

Will be a big signing for a newly promoted Championship club in a few years.

How is he still only 23? Seems to have had far more years of mediocrity since her scored those two goals that he's lived off ever since.

Wilson is a great example of what can happen when young players are rewarded with too much, too soon and heralded as a (future) star - it went to his head and he believed the hype, which of course he has been unable to live up to.

Hopefully Scottish football suits him better and he's able to knuckle down and forge a decent career for himself in the game although I must admit I didn't rate him before he joined Utd on loan, was totally underwhelmed by his performances whilst at the club and thought he came across very poorly in his interviews - it was as though he was doing the club a favour by being there. The complete opposite to Henderson last season who embraced the club and its ethos.

One of Wilder’s few errors as manager came in the derby in Jan 2018 – first by going with Donaldson to start with Clarke over Sharp, and then bringing Wilson rather than Sharp on for him after an hour.

Holmes
Lundstram
Woodburn
Hogan
Leonard
Madine
Donaldson

All manager says get recruitment wrong ..as good as they maybe tactics and Churchill speeches etc

This time we need to to get all signings right ...rarely happens ..but the budget looking tight we can't spunk any more money

Are you citing the above list as transfers Wilder got wrong?!

Only Holmes and Woodburn were complete failures from that list. Everyone else contributed (Hogan and Madine certainly had roles in the promotion), Donaldson was a nominal fee and helped win two away games, and Leonard we made a profit on.

Lundstram - still here and I'm convinced there's a decent player in there
Leonard - sold at a profit that would have more than covered his wages
Madine - hate the twat but he played a part in getting us promoted
Hogan -ditto but without the hate
Donaldson- very late signing after we'd been dicked about by Sinclair's agent. Scored some key goals and stood in when Billy was injured.

Only Holmes and Woodburn can be considered failures IMHO.

Just signed for Ipswich.
