Yes he cost us money, hope and ambition but, it akso cost him disappointment, fall down the ladder and lack of potential earnings. Lets hope someone with foresight gets him working with a bloody good physio and an even better Sports psychologist. With this in place he might, just might, find his way back to gracing a football pitch of reasonably high standard. As much as he totally frustrated me, I wish the lad, all the future success he would wish himself.

This has been posted several times, but it's worth repeating. He became a pro in 2009. Since then, he has never managed more than 19 league games in a season. Seems very unlikely he's ever going to be physically fit enough to fulfill his promise.

Not for me to condemn him in any way, and I'm personally sympathetic to anyone with medical problems that severe, be they physical, mental or a combination. Equally, I'm not blind to the fact that he has been relatively very well remunerated throughout his career, and it is not unreasonable to see Utd's decision to give him a three year contract as foolish and costly on the club's part.

Most things aren't entirely binary. There's a lot of "on the one hand....on the other hand" in life. Though seeing both sides and trying to be balanced doesn't make for very spicy posts on internet forums, admittedly...

UTB and good luck to James Wallace.

Cant believe Man City signed Vincent Kompany ,or Wenger signed Corzola ,could they not see they would be injured ??

No.

But you could see Wallace would be given he had missed half a season due to injury every single season of his career.

Do you think a 3 year deal was a good idea for someone with that injury record?

Same with Coutts. Useless for the first 2 years of a 3 year deal. Thank heaven Clough never got his hands on Steve Davies permanently or Shaun Barker.

Clough signed Barker in the summer. He hasn't started a game for Burton.

Good luck to the lad. He clearly has physical and/or mental issues which are holding him back.

If I remember correctly, didn't he fail his medical with us but Clough signed him anyway?

We signed this lad as a cheap alternative to Conor Coady, who is now captaining a side in the Premier League and perhaps on the verge of an England call-up.

Good grief.

Still, we're away from those dark times now.

One of the most cheap skating short sighted decisions ever - despite Wallace beig talented -CC wanted to come to us desperately and could have steered us to promotion that season

No one seems to know why Wallace misses so many games. So unless it’s a chronic condition that a medical would pick up on, I’d say he was well worth a gamble at the time.

He showed glimpses of being a top end championship midfielder in his brief appearances. Much like Coutts did in that one game against Bradford under Adkins. Everyone who saw it knew the potential...

I didn't think was cheapskating as I thought Coady was quite clear that he wanted to play in the Championship and Wallace was very highly rated until he got an injury at Tranmere.

He’s a lazy, bone idle, scouser, that’s all he’s suffering from.
