This has intrigued me all preseason Matt. why do people think this? Surely it's just blind optimism that he will turn it round?
I'm fairly sure we all Agreed he was garbage last season. So, why would this year be different? I aren't having a go, I'm just wondering why so many people are so convinced he'll become some superstar this season.
Looks like a lumbering talentless striker on his way out the last time I saw him! Where's the evidence it will be any different this year?
I'll offer up a reason:
Clough wanted to play with a big lad up front - and wanted COG all pre-season.
When it didn't happen we brought in Higdon late on - he clearly was not fit.
Started well, goal v Brizzle, but that was on the back of serious disruption with centre halves and Doyle.
Higdon, just picked up niggly injuries then was sent off v Chezzer early on in the season.
Out of team, Mcnuts tried up front.
Brought back - 2 goals in league cup via MK Dons.
Got injured again
COG brought in for a month.
Swindon (twats) targeted him in the first half to get him sent off - disgraceful tactics.
United continued to be linked with COG and Davis - what should Higdon think?
Yes, he looked garbage at times, but all through the season things just didn't drop for him.
All of that doesn't make him a bad person or a shit player - just unlucky.
All of us want a successful United and if Higdon wants to "show Blades supporters" what he can really do, then good luck to him - it might just save us lots of dosh IF he comes good. I just find it incredible that some fans seem to want him to fail.
I know some won't like it, but some of our fans seem to think, shit when he joined and shit all the time he is here. Perhaps Adkins can work some magic on him.
