If you didn't hear it a few minutes ago, get onto 'Listen again' on the Radio Sheffield website.

I've never heard a more enthusiastic interview from a signee for years. OK, he's a confident cockernee with all the patter but it sounds like he lives and breathes football and can't wait to get cracking. Had glowing things to say about Monty, Morgs, Killa, Hendo, the atmosphere at BDTBL and sounds like he'll fit in perfectly with us and importantly, with Blackie's way of thinking and playing.

Agree with that, he was a breath of fresh air. None of the usual inane cliches you get from most players.
He was full of enthusiasm, let's hope he delivers, he could make all the difference.

I'd just pulled up at the petrol pump and sat in the car listening to it. Couldn't tear myself away. Absolutely brilliant interview. Bit worrying that Reading fans didn't seem to rate him but never mind that. Can't wait for him to transfer that enthusiasm onto the pitch. The most well received signing since Jon Harley?

I think he'd just gone stale there Coops, don't forget he was part of the relegation squad and as he said, his face didn't seem to fit with the new manager. I think a move and new challenge will be exactly what he needs and at 28, is the perfect age not to mention having the experience of getting out of this division.

and lets not forget he was the man who made em tick in central midfield when they got promoted and in the Premiership. The number of times he played well against us was unreal. That game where they tore us apart 3-1 at Bramall Lane he was the best player on the pitch.

Whereabouts is it on the listen again player i'm not listening all the way through

No, that was Sidwell.

Harpers performances dropped a lot soon after Sidwell left, showing that he clearly needs a good quality Centre Midfielder next to him. He's never been a player who pulls outstanding performances out of the bag, he just goes about doing his job in the middle of the field.

He could be great for you guys, or he may not... Who is most likely to partner him in the middle?

Mebbes but I recall him being the dog's cobblers at the Lane last season when Reading taught us a football lesson from the first whistle.
When I saw them both play together I actually thought Harper looked the better player.

he'll be playing most of his games with Montgomery I hope, which will give Harper alot of freedom!

"I'll work my nuts off"

Best quote ever......until

"I'll be at the back (in training) breathing out my ringpiece"

This guy could be an absolute legend.

Welcome to Sheff Utd James - me thinks you will be a top Blade

Nope. That would be James Beattie

I remember Hansen and co. raving about Harper every other week on MOTD i just wish we had signed him instead of loan but i guess if we make the Prem signing him will be a doddle and if we don't we probably can't afford him/ won't be good enough.

Great surprise signing though WD blackwell great dealings today ... apart from no CB ...

I thought we had signed him, he is ours now.

There were plenty questioning the wisdom of paying top dollar for a player who hadn't scored many goals in recent times when we were already well off for strikers. I know because i was one of them!

excellent signing, seem to remember we could,nt cope with him in readings promotion season,he is miles better than howard, what enthusiasm, brill

we've taken over his contract which ends at the end of this season. so its 'effectively' a season long loan. I guess like any player in the last year of their contract we will have an option to extend it and he will be free to talk to other clubs. all depends how it goes I suppose.

loving the signing of Harper! will bring some much needed physical presence to or midfield.
seems like the sort of player we need at the mo - bullish and confident. you need broad shoulders (metaphorically speaking)to play at Bramall Lane - don't think Howard was up to it.
