Interesting comments in this article from the manager of Halla F.C, the club he's been on loan at.

http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk...tball-says-hallam-boss-ryan-hindley-1-7092037

For those of you who have seen him in the U18's/U21's is he a talent? and does he possess the ability to make it into our first team in the future?

I think the most interesting point, which you missed on your post was that according to the OS, SUFC expect him to go back out on loan to Ilkeston in the next few weeks.

I'd see this as very significant. If we are now building a relationship with Ilkeston to loan them our youngsters (not the first i know) to help develop them, then i'm all for it. They have a good reputation for developing youngsters, not just Che Adams and Kieran Wallace, but others before them.

It shows that we're also not just going to non league and raiding their best players, we're supporting them too.

I love the condescending tone of that post :-)

Do you reckon if Man Utd "supported" us in the same way, i.e. letting us loan their young players and then snapping up our best players, we would be happy with that?

Nice new avatar Darren ;) Out with the old jugs, in with the new. Small acts of subversion. Always the best !

The tone was not intentional, if thats the way it comes across. At least you're not accusing me of having a personal dig at you this time ;)

Its about the significance of developing a relationship with a local side with a great reputation for developing youngsters

And yes if Man Utd were loaning us their best youngsters i'd be happy. Its more than what we've had from the sides that've bought all our youngsters in the last few years.

Just posted on another thread that I saw him play and score v Leeds U21s last season.

I think we could have one here, great movement, good finisher and he looks like he loves playing football.

Obviously a sample of one game is very small but he took my eye that night.

I have liked Jake when I have seen him play, a good eye for goal and he has some height as well!!

I would like to put in a FORMAL PROTEST about your change of avatar!

I always enjoyed your posts ..... not just for your obvious legal eloquence :p

I think the point would be that Ilkeston is non-league and this gives an avenue for players to break into the professional game. Not sure any coach would stand in the way of a youngster getting a chance to be a pro.
ManU would be in it for the talent they can squeeze out of all the pyramid below. Stock Pile - sift of the cream etc.
We compete with them on an academy level, directly - so it's quite different in my book.

Besides

LAY OFF SWIZZLER - HE TALKS MORE SENSE THAN MOST ON HERE!

Man Utd are premier league team and this give an opportunity for players to break into the PL. Not sure any coach would stand in the way of a youngster getting a chance to play in the PL. SUFC are in for the talent they can squeeze out of the pyramid below.

NOt different at all :-)

It's as different as the jugs in your new avar and the previous ones ;)

The lad's certainly stepped up in his development this year. It seems to have coincided with him bulking up massively over the summer. He's added a bit of strength and power to his game.

I'm looking forward to seeing him tested at a higher level to see if he carries on scoring. His goal rate at Hallam was ridiculous but it's not the best standard of football and I'd like to see how many chances he was getting per match. Hopefully he carries on at that rate!

Aye, they'll try just about anyone :D

Jake is a talent and one which is flying under the radar at the moment due to us having the likes of Mcnulty, Adams, Murphy, Higdon, Maradona - I mean Diego, Done, I heard the manager of Hallam on the radio the other day spoke really highly of Jake and the academy at Sheffield United and he is a Blade. Its good that our local no league clubs are giving these lads the confidence to achieve. Last year Hallam had Ben Whiteman and Louis Reed? I have watched Jake play needs to develop a little more physically but seems to score every time he plays? maybe a good 4/6 weeks with goals at Ikeston might see him introduced? I would rather see a kid in our team who loves playing football and is scoring goals than one who wants to leave.

I see Jake Scored 2 last night on his Ilkeston Debut. Also good to see Calvert-Lewin score for the 21s in mid week. I think the future and first team looks very bright at the moment.

It was one goal during the game and then scored the winner in a shootout. Positive start though :)

So is the general feeling that this lad is the best striker to come through the ranks since Billy Sharp?

I think our Pakistan International also scored last night as well Bob for Matlock. These young lads seem to know where the back of the net is, DCL certainly proved to be popular with Stalybridge during his loan spell there. Now Jake starting to put himself in the spotlight a bit.

He's posted on Twitter that he has been offered a Professional Contract. Great news, never seen him play but you can't ignore his goal records.

Not for me. But he's improved immensely this season.

It was at Hallam, but I think he's scored 1 since joining Ilkeston on 17th February and they've played 10 games in that time. The reviews have all been positive from what I can see though. Maybe a Conference loan beckons next season after a pre-season with the first team.

How long do you suppose it will be before we give him away ..... sorry ..... sell him, to a minor PL or Championship side for ten bob, two shiny buttons and a promise of a friendly ?? o_O
