Exactly this. ^^^

It's Jordan Hallam who's the next big thing...

Good luck to the lad. I reckon he'll make a career for himself in the league.

I would agree with you Pinchy if someone had proclaimed that Jake Wright JNR would be the next best thing but they haven’t.

Ironside
De Juve
Kennedy
Reed
Whiteman
McFadzean
Whitehouse
Calamity George.

etc...

Who’s next on the X-Factor?

He's pointed out that nobody has declared Jake Wright to be the next big thing. You've answered by publishing a list of players, none of whom are Jake Wright. I think they call this 'playing tennis without the net'.

Putting Tel in that list is a bit cruel.

It is a little bit. Without the injuries he would have been a really good player, I’ve no doubt about that and I watched him a lot as he was growing up. His reading of the game was excellent and he’d have been brilliant in a back three.

Agree largely in the rest though, well maybe apart from Long - although I still don’t think he’ll play much higher than L1. ‘De Juve’ even showed good promise before his big injury.

It’s a theme. They’ve all been wished a great deal better than they ever were or ever will be.

I’ve never seen Jake Wright play and don’t expect to do so. I don’t feel remotely deprived. I’m for excellence, not parochialism.

I watched Kennedy as well. Not big enough. Not good enough. I watched the youth team a bit in those days. I realised, for example, that Ironside was nowhere near good enough long before the idiots were singing his name and making him “first on the team sheet”.

Tel might have forged a career at League One which is pretty impressive but Beckenbauer he was not. At first team level there were more than a few defiencies in his reading of the game.

It’s very easy to be a world-beater ‘but for injuries’. It is basketball’s loss that I’m not 6 foot 11 tall.

Oh those Bladey Boybanders do make me smile.

Rubbish. Ty Smith is destined for greatness. He might even be the next Louis Reed...

Can you:

  • Refer to any posts asserting Jake Wright would become a "star"?
  • Refer to any posts that claimed "Ty Smith is destined for greatness."?
  • Refer to any posters (or "idiots" as you called them) that were "making him “first on the team sheet”."?
I'm pretty sure you can't. In all your 'Bladey boyband' tirades, you appear to be attempting to joust with an invisible man. Makes you look a bit silly.

You miserable old sod.

Regardless of his eventual level, you couldn't even manage a GLTTL.

Wow, crime of the century! An academy releases young players who don't make the grade, who'd have thought it?

The fact that people on here want young lads who have already been with the club for 10 years to do well, is no crime. Without hope we have nothing, and all that....

I accept your point that pretending some of these are good enough is just daft. However there is no need to be so nasty toward these lads who've given their best for our youth teams. If they aren't good enough then so be it, but they've generally given it their best shot.

Sometimes the Pinchy agenda forces you to have to write some quite silly stuff.

Nothing against the lads at all ISC. I genuinely hope they go as high as their ability will take them. My issue is not with the players, but the silly Bladey Blades who, to give but one example, continue to wish upon a star for a small mediocre midfielder of limited ability who plays for non-league bound Chesterfield, against all the weight of the evidence, common sense and reality. Whiteman’s another one who isn’t going to burn bright but I recall we mustavimbackinjanuary not so long ago.

Just trying to balance the madness. It’s all I ever do.

Reed yes, but i still think that Whiteman may well end up higher than the third division.

Just trying to balance the madness.

With a chip on each shoulder?

It’s all I ever do.

No, no, no it's not. Your knowledge and great insight is venerated by all on here who hang on your every word, ish....

Oh ffs give it a rest. Do you ever post anything other than our Bladey- Bladesness?

What a piece of work you are Pinchy.

A young footballer who has come through the academy posts on twitter thanking everyone at the club for his time here as he moves on hoping to advance his career.

Your response is to take the piss out of him, players, fellow posters and Blades supporters who just happen to support local lads, mostly Blades who we develop in the hope that they make the first team.

You simply sneer at them and those who wish them well.

Each to his own though eh.

But what about Paddy McGeeney, Lee Walshaw and David Frain. And that is before we tackle the thorny subject of John Reed
