Why not give him a chance, no worse than the 2 mugs were fucking stuck with currently.

Remember destroying George Long?

no it’s got to be Fodders until we get a replacement.. letting Moore go looks calamitous

All I’m saying is eastwood was starting for a league 2 team that got relegated last year. Huge jump

Robin Olsen in

He was getting released supposedly less than a fortnight ago and now people are wanting him as number 1?

Jesus H Christ 🤦‍♂️

Agree re Moore, but, Verrips and Fodders are like a pair of furry dog eggs on the lawn.

Verrips was playing abroad, hes still shit, as is Fodders.
Atleast Eastwood might actually have a go?
Verrips closed his eyes everytime he went for a save!, never seen that before!???

Absolutely baffling. He must me laughing all the way to the bank, knowing that he'll earn more money here putting cones out for Fodders than he would playing every week in the Conference.

Does anyone know how long he's been offered?

Given a new contract. 25 years old, and has only played 30 first team games in his life, mostly at lower levels. Why are we keeping him on?

If you think about it, we have no money and need a 3rd keeper capable of playing if Wes and Davies both get injured. He's likely to be cheap and must really enjoy it here. He seems to get on well with everyone.

Totally understand the reasoning behind keeping him if he's cheap but he's no more experienced in competitive games as Dewhurst who he's now getting in the way of.

If we've resigned Eastwood, I'd hope that the club has plans for Dewhurst to go out on a season long loan somewhere in League 2 to then come back and perhaps become second choice the following season if he does well, by which time Eastwood has been sent packing.

From Eastwood's perspective, he's now in a difficult position as a 25 year old keeper who has never played a full season of football at a decent level. I hope he's doing his badges or doing something to prepare himself for eventually being cut loose because based on his experience, he'll be playing semi-pro and working a full time job like the rest of us, probably for less money than he's on now.

He's not capable though, he's shit

We need at least 3 senior keepers to make training sessions work better and to be on the bench if 1 of the 1st/2nd choice are injured/suspended.

Keeping Eastwood means the younger keepers can go out on loan without the risk of having to be re-called midway though the loan to cover injuries/suspensions.

Regardless of the position, a new contract for a 25 year old who’s never made a start for us in the league?

Lazy work from the club and recruitment department

So you'd rather us spend time/money signing someone else to be 3rd choice and probably never play?

Releasing Eastwood and replacing him with someone of a similar standard would mean paying transfer/agent/signing fees and potentially higher wages, why would we bother?

Would you not rather the club spend money where its needed, you know, rather than buying a keeper we dont actually need to spend on?

It’s about standards and constantly pushing on for progress. Wes is 32 and we should be wanting some genuine completion so that either Wes keeps his standards up or we potentially end up giving an opportunity to a younger and better goalkeeper (if say Wes has a dip or long term injury).

But, with Davies, that's exactly what we currently have.
To buy a keeper in the same stable as Wes or Davies, currently.......£1m up min??
Which we dont need to spend really.
Would you not rather put that toward a player we actually need??
A defender/midfielder/striker maybe??

Afterall, we could actually get promoted next year(probably wont, but...), then we can sign Henderson, afterall, he must be getting bored of bench warming now!??

The genuine competition comes from the 2nd choice, which in our case is Adam Davies, not Eastwood. (Assuming Davies and Eastwood actually signs the deals we've offered)

I have it on good authority that the Prince believes Jake is Clint‘s little brother.

Invest in a young keeper with potential, which Eastwood clearly isn’t as he’s not even made a championship appearance by the age of 25.

Settling for short term guaranteed mediocrity is a guaranteed way to hold back the club in the long term. It’s a very Blackwell/Warnock ‘they’ll do a job’ approach and a false economy imo.

Eastwood is neither a short term asset or a long term investment. Just a lazy solution and waste of resources and more importantly an opportunity for a potentially better goalkeeper

Eastwood is a ‘training’ keeper, he’ll never play regular first team football for United, but he seems content to be in that role. Whilst he occupies the 3rd choice keeper berth, it allows the younger keepers to go out and get some much needed and valuable experience in mens football.

He’s not blocking anyones progress, because a younger keepers development would be stalled by being put in the position occupied by Eastwood and in that respect, he is a valuable asset.
