Invest in a young keeper with potential, which Eastwood clearly isn’t as he’s not even made a championship appearance by the age of 25.

Settling for short term guaranteed mediocrity is a guaranteed way to hold back the club in the long term. It’s a very Blackwell/Warnock ‘they’ll do a job’ approach and a false economy imo.

Eastwood is neither a short term asset or a long term investment. Just a lazy solution and waste of resources and more importantly an opportunity for a potentially better goalkeeper
Eastwood is at the club to allow the "long term investments" to go out on loan and gain valuable experience, so he clearly is an asset.

The football club is bigger than the 11 players who start on match day, but you don't seem to understand that for some reason.

If he’s doing the role Scott Carson plays at Man City we could at least get someone with some sort of championship experience.

Even for the kind of intermediary role the club wants him for, it’s still poor because he’s neither young with potential or older and experienced. He’s neither.

Your last paragraph is an obnoxiously vague assertion to make

And that's a better use of our transfer funds than signing players we actually need is it?

Where do you suggest with find a keeper with championship experience, who's happy to be 3rd choice and not get game time and happy with the same low wages Eastwood is on?

Christ I’m not having a back and forth over our third keeper ffs. I gave my opinion, a 25 year old who’s never made a first team championship appearance is a waste of resources. A present day Paddy Kenny would be more use.

But we have Dewhurst behind him, and the u18s keeper behind him.
If Heckys vision is to be followed, them surely, the keeper you describe, will be the next academy product???

Can’t see a problem here? He’s a third choice keeper who is literally never gonna play.

Define 'did well'
I follow the loanees and all three were happy with Eastwood
Dont get me wrong somebodys seen something in him that’s not right that’s why he hasent progressed at the Lane but he could do a job in L1

He's quite literally an injury and sending off away from playing. And with our injury record, do you think that's inconceivable?

Not really a massive issue for us keeping him on but for him….surely he’s going to regret sitting on his arse for the majority of his career.

25 years old and played barely a handful of games in that time. Its incredibly difficult for keepers to get games, especially with their parent club so I find it baffling that he’s not tried to build a career for himself somewhere else.

He might be picking up a decent wage for what he does, which is essentially warming up our other keepers, but when he does eventually get dropped by United, he’s going to drop a lot lower than he would have if he’d attempted to get games elsewhere.

Reminds me of those journeymen boxers who just turn up to get beaten for a pay day. Picking up a wage but ultimately when they look back on their career, theyve achieved absolutely nowt on a professional level.

I suppose there is a flip side to all this.

He's probably a dyed in the wool Unitedite and everyday he goes to work at either Bramall Lane or Shirecliffe is living the dream.

Maybe he knows he could be called on for absolute emergencies and probably realises that Dewhurst or Amissah might overtake him. But for now they need games to develop so can go elsewhere knowing the third choice emergency keeper isn't some 18 year old kid fresh out of school.

Scott Carson has probably equally been living the dream being Man City 3rd keeper.

Maybe, rather than play regularly in he 4th tier he'd simply prefer to turn up to work on similar money at the club he loves. Part of me says GLTTL!

So often with all players we tend to forget there are many aspects outside football that affect their choices.
Vincent Kompany to Burnley is today’s evidence, with a wife from Manchester and children born in the UK.
Maybe Sander Berge is happy to earn £1.5m or more playing here where he is guaranteed a game, might get promoted to Premier League and is with a group that he knows well.
Players are humans and not parts in Fantasy Football to be moved wherever we think they should be.

Is that the Scott Carson that played for England and half a dozen other prem clubs ? He wont be living any dream as 3rd keeper . it will be cash only plus perks now .

I"m sure he came off the bench and went in goal after Simon Moore got sent off in the 3-0 defeat away at Wolves in our first season back in the Championship in 2018. So that's at least one Championship appearance.

His first touch of the ball was to pick it out of the net! It was the 3rd goal direct from a free kick after Moore got the marching orders for a professional foul

League one Wes was signed to do that role. Unfortunately we sold the first choice, verrips was crap and so was Olsen so we had to play him.

That's another GK we need to bring in then
We only really had 2 keepers when we were in the Champ last time, Blackman/Moore and Henderson/Moore. Eastwood wouldn't have been any more senior than Amissah or Dewhurst at that time I'd imagine.

GLTTL anyway. He's a footballer. He should be trying to play games.
