This is all because Verrips suffered concussion after Keanu clattered into him - this means Verrips can't play for 7 days - so it's likely to only be a precautionary measure and Eastwood should be back in Scunthorpe in time for the Chinese New Year.

Looks like Chesney off Coranation farm, but with normal coloured hair!

When I was growing up, ginger was not classed as normal!
Apart from the biscuits obviously!

(It's all jokey, don't take offence as non is intended!!)

Made a stinker of an error against Plymouth last time out, but has apparently been playing well all in all
Means nothing a keeper making a cock up, Aaron Ramsdale looked non league when he was playing for Chesterfield

Ramsdale was a big contributor to their relegation if I recall correctly, now a first choice Prem number one!

Looked the part in the friendly with Stoke a few years ago he’s been playing well for Scunny don’t let him slip through the net.

Just realised that Eastwood’s older than both Henderson and Verrips. He is, for a young keeper, relatively old when you think of how few appearances he’s had at first team level for anyone. By the same age Eastwood is, George Long had played nearly 100 games...

We put Long in far too early and it nearly destroyed him but he regrouped and has matured into a solid keeper.
Cant see the point in recalling Eastwood he was doing well at Scunny could have brought Dewhurst back Jags would do a job in an emergency

If we have to put Eastwood on the bench does that use up one of the spots in our 25 man Premier League squad for the rest of the season?

Does one of the current squad lose their place? Anybody know how it works?

There’s flexibility to submit updates to the 25 over January. So we’ll simply update it to add Eastwood (probably in place of Verrips) and update it again when he goes. It’ll only be fixed again when the transfer window ends.

He has been at the club since he joined our Academy so he is allowed to play in the PL for us?

It’s only U21 players I believe that don’t count within the 25 limit. Eastwood would need to be allocated a spot in the squad.

I once tried to get in free at the Under 23s away to Reading at Wycombe Wanderers. I minced up to the Blazer Steward with the Clipboard and said "Jake Eastwood's in goal for Sheffield United, he's my Lad". I was sent to walk round to a gate at the far end with another bloke & his wife who had been stood with the Steward & were looking at me a bit funny. I decided to make small talk. Only to be told they were ACTUALLY & REALLY Jake's Parents. I had some explaining to do that day, I can tell you. Lovely people. I always ask them how my Lads doing whenever I see them.

No mate. We put Steve Conroy and Paul Tomlinson in at 16 and Tom McAllister in at 17. All them 3 were streets ahead of Juddy Butterfingers. Age is nowt to do with it. They are either good enough or they aren't.

Reminds me of the time I approached a nice young lady up town in my teenage years and made out that I played in the juniors at United (what is now the avedemy for those younger than me) thinking that it would impress her.

She asked me my name and asked if I knew Mitch Ward. Ah Mitch of course I do he’s a good lad lad I replied.

Well he’s my boyfriend and I don’t recognise you she said.

Cue me walking sheepishly away

Conroy was 20, Tomlinson was 18 and McAlister was 19 when they made 1st team debuts

Not sure if it was his debut or home debut (or possibly neither as it’s a long time ago) but I recall Tomo saving a pen. I thought at the time ‘he’s going to be good’.

😯You’ve ruined a good story with facts again Silent!

Thanks for the corrections. Not changed my mind though - I’m stubborn like that!😉

Steve Conroy was our school team goalie back in the day. I was 2 years below him in school and played, as a winger, for the second XI (Development squad see?).

I never thought at the time he’d go on to be first choice keeper for the Blades. Then again, he probably didn’t think I’d go on to play in the Sheffield pub leagues? 🤔

Yes he did in the 5-0 home win against Southend in November 1983
