Seen some good drinkers succumb to Jaipur. Dangerous %, especially for the cocky session drinkers.

They didn’t heed my warning and ended up looking a state.

I hope Billyblade went to bed at 9 with an anadin and good book.

Jaipur, brewed in Thornbridge, Derbyshire. An excllent brewery spoiled by having a beer named after the dark side.

"Somebody" did this in my local when they put it on a few years ago. It stayed on quite a while to the point which, I was told by the barman a few days later, it was being asked for by it's new improved name.

Remember doing similar in Leeds a few years ago. Necked about 5 or 6 in the space of a couple of hours and it hit me like a freight train when we got up to go to the next bar. Never had hangover like it either. One of the reasons I've largely stopped drinking 🤣

About 15 years ago I went over to Bradford from Leeds for a few after work drinks as one our team were in a band who owned a small bar. Jaipur was on tap, eager 23 year old exec said “oooh what’s that?” when I ordered a pint. Warned him and said, maybe stick to 2 or 3 max. He didn’t and ended up lost in the great city, managed to be found and dragged into a taxi back to civilisation.

Update from the morning after Billy…?
Don't do hangovers
54 year old and never had one.
Barrel went so went on the Leffe and something from Pheasantry brewery.
Went for a tandoori mixed grill which was bang average and a Cobra that wasn't.
In bed for 10:30, fell asleep at 10:30:20, woke up at 01:30, got under the covers, fell back asleep, woke up at 03:00 red hot, got back out of the covers, fell back asleep.
Woke up with my alarm at 6, quick shite and a brekky. Outside an electrical Wholesalers at 6.40. Stood here now talking bollocks about tools.
Feel great apart from my back's still fucked.
Home soon😀

Anyone tried Jaipur X? Fuck me, that's strong.
Once had a pint, then a pint of Melba, 3 pints of Staropramen, 2 Morettis and my Missus had to pull me out of someone's front garden on the way home. I didn't feel pissed but my legs didn't work😅

This is the one thing Jaipur does to me worse than anything else. Four pints and I'm pretty borderline but if I manage five then my legs definitely declare independence from my brain.
I've found myself walking home swerving across the road from pavement to pavement, fully aware it's not a good idea but completely unable to do anything about it.

A few years ago I had one of those Perfect Draft Keg Machines and you could get kegs of Jaipur. One time there was an offer on to get a discount if you bought 6 so I thought why not I'll buy them and it will last me a while. When they got delivered the 'Best Before' dates were all 5 weeks away 😂

The Greystones had a Jaipur X on for a while which was 10%, enjoyed it at the time but doubt i could hack it now!!
Since Jaipur became a successful "brand", there have been a number of spin off variants.

Jaipur X (as you say)
DDH Jaipur (Double Dry Hopped), also branded as Hazy Jaipur
Jaipur Noir
Union Jaipur (brewed on the rescued Burton Union kit)
Pink Grapefruit Jaipur
Jaipur Joins Faith (with Northern Monk)

To name but some

As "Jaipur" usual your beer knowledge is unmatched!

Made the mistake of having a Jaipur in the Rawson Spring last summer.

Not remotely worth the seemingly very cheap price of just over 2 quid.

Not off, just either badly kept or at the end of it's life as is the Spoons way.

Looking forward to the pink grapefruit. Like a bloody cocktail

That variant is currently on in The Sheffield Tap, The Chesterfield Arms, The Greystones, The Market Tap (York) ... amongst others.
beer of the month I believe (keeping my eye out for wild raven later in year). I like the pink grapefruit halcyon to be fair. I got pretty addicted to it during lockdown when the sun was out…….I also had a whiskey sour craze going on at that point…….. I might not leave the house this weekend and reminisce

What's the secret Billy? I know a few people who say this. I'm usually not on my deathbed the next day but sit at work with a red face feeling sweaty and grubby (despite a shower)

I have literally no idea.
I don't have any tricks, secrets, potions or owt.
I drink, I sleep, I wake up, I crack on. I'm sometimes slower but I get no headaches or feel lousy. If I did, I reckon I'd drink a lot less

First time I had Jaipur was in the Britannia on Brampton, Chesterfield. We sat and watched a Friday night football match, Man U I think. Had 6 pints and nearly fell over when I got up to walk to the next pub and the fresh air hit me.

A lot of the craft beers here are minimum 6%, most around 8%-9% and at 40 years old I just can’t do any more than the odd pint anymore. It kills me.

Weren't a fan tbf, that's the risk with a TIPA, they just become pure booziness and lose any flavour profile. Strong as owt, mind.

The majority shareholder is Jim Harrison. He is a big Wednesdayite. They have a box at Hillsborough or used to have…
I actually spoke to him in The Crispin at Great Longstone a few weeks before the end of the season, seemed quite level headed about the state of Sheffield football and pretty much a down to earth bloke.

pint of Jaipur in The Dragon Inn (Spoons) in Birmingham last night was £3.10

🤯

Only had one.
