Bolton Wanderers, Everton and Wigan Athletic are the clubs that have registered their interest in Blades star Phil Jagielka.

However, United's Football Club Chairman Terry Robinson says that, despite interest from the aforementioned top-flight trio, there remains a chance that Phil will be at Bramall Lane next season.

That scenario would be as a result of a successful bid for United to be reinstated into the Premiership.

Robinson told BladesWorld: "We're waiting to see the outcome of the arbitration. If Sheffield United are reinstated, it's highly unlikely that Phil will leave. If we're not reinstated, then he'll invoke the clause in his contract. If we're reinstated we wouldn't even be having this discussion."

The versatile performer made it known at the end of the season that his desire is to play Premiership football and, since then, press reports have linked Phil with a host of clubs.

Robinson continued: "He (Phil) does want to play Premiership football.

"Phil has a high regard for Sheffield United as we all know, but sometimes it's your own career advancement that comes before other things. I spoke to Phil's agent this morning and we're all singing from the same hymn sheet."

He added: "Everton are the favourites - it is Phil's preferred choice. Wigan and Bolton have shown some interest in him, as have Everton."

why bid £5m when he has a £4m release fee...unless of course the papers made that up
