As everybody else I haven't a clue what's going on, but there was one thing I noticed. Earlier on in this thread it was mentioned that someone on Blades Mad had mentioned it being something to do with Sharp's recommendation. If you go on his liked tweets, there's one he's liked that's a video of Jags' Leeds goal with the caption 'you know you want to come back' or something similar. Probably doing 2+2 and getting 5.

Ie. Young, hungry, on the way up not down, competetive wages but within a structure and not silly money.

Very true. I was thinking more recent activity, but then again Ched would also be an exception to that as well.
I was thinking more about the overall package rather than just age. When you consider the wages involved it becomes much more of an outlier.

wilders policy last season was exactly that last seasons policy (dont forget in all this young hungry player nonsense he signed wright, duffy, clarke all over 30) and now he wants holmes at 29. so lets not be daft enough to think if wilder was offered a premier league player in a position we need he wouldnt bite your hands off!
