All the papers seem to be full of Jags to Arsenal stories (for £15million+). Anyone know if we have a sell on clause?
 

Always said Jags would fit into one of the top 4 quite easily.
 
I don't think we did, he had a release clause in his contract with us so we didn't really have the option to put additional clauses in. I might be wrong but I always thought that was the case.

That's what I thought too. Almost certain that McCabe was asked about this in a fans forum the season following the transfer - might be contained in a transcript if anyone's still got it. Linz? Foxy?

No, we didnt have any add on Clauses, it was a straight up £4m relegation release clause.
 
hope he gets the move to a champs lg club he deserves and hopefully the recognition at international level will follow

I have no problem with us including that clause as a means for ensuring Jags stayed with us longer than he otherwise would have done, but would he really have refused to sign a new deal if we'd have insisted that any buyer would have to include a sell-on clause? Classic Robinson.

Decent move for Jags & a decent move for Arsenal? They've been crying out for a reliable centre-half for ages, and it can only help Jags re: nailing down his England place. At 28, if he doesn't do this now I doubt he'll get another chance to play for one of the top clubs.

I'm guessing there is sarcasm in there but no there isnt a sell on clause as I understand it.

He wouldnt sign a new deal without a release clause, it was a straight cash upfront deal.

Supplementing a huge wage bill is still investing in the team.

Are you trying to say McCabe has been getting away with it?

I think we are all aware who appointed the managers, however once appointed you have to back them, and KM for all his fault has always backed them.
 
another piss poor decision by the blades no doubt not to include a sell on clause, no add-ons if plays for england etc. Just the same with walker/naughton no doubt.

If he commanded a fee then it was our call what the deal consisted of, surely, otherwise why come to the 4million figure?

Mugs when it comes to these sort of things. Look at the billy sharp situation sold him for next to nothing bought him for 2million, then sell him for half that and then he looks like he'll be on his way for 3million+. How many more examples is there!?

He appoints the wrong managers then backs them ? I think a lot of things about McCabe but never had him down as a fool. Perhaps he should appoint the right manager/managers and not back them ? :eek:

You obviously have no idea on the Jags contract. He stipulated a release clause without it we would have already lost him for nothing.
The Kyles have a sell on clause and Sharp had one when he went to Scunny.

Erm, Bob, a while back you told me you were not ITK, and now you're chucking these facts around like you're privy to the details of their contracts. Which is it?:)
